Voted option 2.

1. Don't know if mods are given any special powers regarding SAH or not, but if it's regular mod then it's good too.

2. Option3 and Option4 are similar. Option4 is just ruder. If you are asking a serious question, then it doesn't make sense adding in a non-serious option.
(I refer to the reason why Micha left in the 1st place and why you now are starting this post. Serious enough, imo.)

3. Perhaps an option 5 which says "I don't really care". I'm sure there will be a couple of those around as well.

Ofcourse, despite voting option2, I will be a touch wary playing in his 1st few return games.
Some of the posts in that thread (and Xyligun's explanations in other unrelated threads) give rise to scary off-game options.

Regards,
Nmid.

Hi ,

added the option 5.

It is a great different betwin 3 and 4 between not come back at the moment and never come back.

Also it would be only a normal Moderator of the Forum.

The only semi-admin at the game page should I be at the moment.

lol @ the sticky.

I'll leave Ron to decide if he wants to give mod powers back to micha or not.

As for option3/4, It's been what.. 7-8 months+ since the 'incident'? My point was that either ppl are still upset about it and in anger will say NEVER. People who have cooled down a bit will say "Not now". Just a matter of how angry ppl still are about it.... ah.

Guess it's a good way to show to micha how ppl think about it.

We all make mistakes, and especially considering the amount Micha has contributed to this community, I'd like to see him come back. That said, trust has been violated, so that trust will need to be rebuilt. It would take a long while before I played in a game that he was both hosting and playing, but that's colored by my general disaffection to anybody playing and hosting. I'd certainly play in a game with him and would welcome his contributions to the forum.

Cheers,
Void

I voted #2.

Micha has made great contributions to the Stars! community. His FAQ's, posts, and comments are well written and informative and have helped many Stars! players.

I believe he should be given another chance, and should continue to share his Stars! experience and knowledge with the community.

I personally only see a few of his friends that he talks to voting to want him back.

I think option 4 was right on the money and that is what I voted for!

I don't really care to play with anyone who cheats because it is cowardly way to win that ruins games for everyone.

For him to join the same game I want to join means I have to back out and wait for another game to start.

Keep him out of games to uphold honor for the community by making him an example that dishonorable conduct is not wanted here.

Sure if anything let him come back to the forum and continue to contribute to stars knowledge for which he is so known for but I would never play a game with him.

Giving him any sort of Moderation or Admin status would make this forum lose respect. I can think of a few others who deserve those responsibilities more.

To make the work of an Moderator at the Forum has nothing to do with playing games.
And Micha done a real great job at the Forum and would be a real help to everyone out there. How many have learned something from his posts here or used his links.

I don't understand why he went thru this self imposed ban in the first place. Certainly nobody asked him to retire or get away from SAH, he did it on his own.

What would be utterly unacceptable, however, would be to give him any kind of power or authority on the server and the forums.

The way he explained himself sounded more like a gambler who try but can't stop gambling. Some people are like that... If you want to make sure it doesn't happen again then the only fool proof way is to make sure the occasion never present itself again.

For the record, Micha has never spoken to me, so unless my post isn't showing up for you (gosh, I hope I haven't been that offensive in my postings that I've been hidden!) then this is not factually correct.

Still, I respect your opinion to not want to play with him. That said, there's nothing to prevent him from using an alias. Heck, I could be Micha for all anyone knows. Shocked

Utlimately, I don't think what we think matters a great deal. As you suggest, he banned himself, so he can un-ban himself any time he wants.

Cheers,
Void

This thread seems a bit needless to me. Micha will come back if and when he wishes - it was his choice to slip away. But it does serve to state the blatantly obvious: Micha is among friends when he is here. It'd certainly be nice to see his name popping up again, along with many of the other ghosts that now haunt the forums as rarely as I do Wink

CCmaster I find it funny you picked my post apart line for line in a troll way. I posted my opinion that is all. Feel free to defend the cheater how ever you would like without trolling me.

Void maybe not all of his friends voted to have him in the community. I did in fact say it was my personal opinion his friends are voting to keep him here. I did not state it was fact like you say. Just to clear that up.

Guys, I don't like Micha or any other cheater. It's fine with me that I am the minority that thinks cheaters should not be here. I know I don't have to play with him in any games or talk to the guy ever and I wont. That is fact and opinion.

Micha banned him self so he should just come back and not wait for what others think.

I'm afraid that when I edited the poll options to make them more clearly understood in my mind, I incorrectly rephrased ccmaster's original wording.

In both option 1 and 2 of the poll, ccmaster used the phrase "Moderator of the Forum". I mistakenly took that to mean 'assitant administrator' (of SAH itself). ccmaster, I now believe, meant it to mean 'HWF forum moderator'. I'm sure this was partly because I was in 3 different chat sessions (very rare for me) at the time, and a phone call.

If Micha did come back, both ccmaster and I agree that he would not be give SAH admin powers again.

Also, just in case anyone does not already know this: HWF moderator access is ONLY for the forums themselves, not for actual SAH stuff.

Access and permissions for HWF are totally separate from SAH.

Only I (apart from our kind server admin of course) have full admin SAH access (Linux shell access to the server) and can setup and remove games. I am the only person with admin access to HWF (create, modify, delete forums/threads/posts, edit user ranks, change forum colors, ban users, etc).

ccmaster is my only SAH assistant admin, and has the power to use the Host Utility to edit any game settings, and pause and restart games. He does not have any special HWF permissions other than what regular moderator access gives.

Moderators of the forums have limited rights to edit/move posts in forums in which they are moderators. They do not have access to the full admin interface.

I voted for 2, but I have reservations and Ron's clarification kinda just muddies things worse.

Micha is still an Administrator for the wiki andI'd be more than happy for him to moderate the Must Know forum again.

I've got no idea what happened but felt sad when I started reading this thread.
Micha is one of the top people to have kept this forum alive and growing.

If anyone feels they have to then please pm me rather than dragging anything out into the open again.

I will agree that Micha made valuable contributions in the stars community, and seemed to be a good forum mod.

However, I think that this is more than a "mistake" as it was done over a period of years, and many games. Even if it was never intended or used with ill intent (Which I personally do not believe), it is clear he never second guessed that original decision. Also, when he presented a public apology, he blatantly lied. There was no additional attempt at an apology, no explanation, he just left. You might have took that as resignation. I took it as admission of guilt.

ccmaster, I appreciate your view, and it is cool that you stand by your friend, but with all due respect, there are other ways to cheat. So, while I wouldn't protest his return to the forums, I would not knowingly enter any games with him.

That isn't to say I would not want to play against him again, I actually would, if there was some method to verify that he was not cheating in some fashion. I have limited time for games (very limited lately), playing against someone who is cheating, or could be, would be a waste of my limited time, IMO.

Although I don't have the time to play very much even in single player, let alone multiplayer, I have lurked here on and off for some time. I have always found the posts made by Micha to be some of the most informative and interesting posts on the forum.

Having read the apology thread I can only come to the conclusion that Micha has made a genuine mistake and doesn't seem to me to have the intention of cheating.

It would be a shame to lose his experience and knowledge from this wonderful game and forum.

Dave.

Edit: Was that really my first post???
