Players: 8 players any skill level.
Universe: Small, normal, distant, SLOW TECH, ACC BBS, random events.

Victory: 100% consensus vote from remaining players, alliance win possible (but limited to two).

Schedule: M-T-W-T-F until at least turn 30. Move to M-W-F when at least two players have requested a slowdown.

Race Limitations: ALL races MUST take weapons expensive and the Bleeding Edge Tech LRT. No factoryless HE. This means that the GR of the HE cannot be more than 10(20) and factories cannot be less than default. Joat cannot take NAS. There are otherwise no restrictions. Races will be verified by the third party prior to start.

Special Rules: NO TECH TRADING ALLOWED. No scrapping, no pop dropping allies for tech gain, no wolf-lamb. You may not scrap MT ships for tech gain or share MT parts through scrapping. You may trade ships to other players, but if scrapping those ships would produce tech gains, they may never be scrapped (design may be deleted, however). Sending an "observer" ship to watch a battle in hopes of gaining tech is allowed, as long as the battle is between enemies.

Gaining tech through legitimate battle with enemies (in space or through invasion) is allowed and encouraged, however.

NO PRE-GAME ALLIANCES ALLOWED. This ruins the game for everyone.

Cheats allowed: Healing after gating, chaff, split-fleet dodge. All other cheats forbidden (cheap starbases, etc).

I am looking for a 3rd party to check races and a Host is needed.

 I have been interested in this game, with or without the MT. I will be playing in "Allies & Empires" which should get going any day now and want to see how that is going 1st.

I remember over 10 yrs ago, when I loved this game, getting into a few too many at once. LOL It gets rather busy in the later years. But this being small and crowded, should be a rather different game than "Allies & Empires" without quite as much time requirement I'm thinking.

With no tech trading, Diplomacy may not be as time consuming.

So please consider me interested in one of these games. If it takes as long to organize as "Allies & Empires", I should be ready with something by the time it starts. I have ideas Smile

Undead dead already - thought we were just starting games. Shocked Allies & Empires 1st turn submitted.

Still think I'll have time for this one too, due to much smaller universe.

I would be interested as well, with one cavet though: My wife is pregnant and we expect birth any day now. As soon as this all is over (about 2-3 weeks from now) I will have the time to join the game. In the next few days however, we have too many things to organize.

So if you can get your game rolling before that, please do so, otherwise, count me in Smile

I saw Ed's posting in The Bar and volunteered to set up and host the game. Setting up SAS4 went quite well once I got things squared away, so I'd be happy to do it for you chaps, as well.

 Hi folks,

Sounds like I'm your host for SAS V. I can generate the game on the weekend, so there's plenty of time to get your race files to me by then. Does noon GMT this Saturday (September 3) give everyone enough time to submit their race files to me? If so, I can generate the game on Saturday. The next windows is Monday, September 5 (Labor Day in the US).

Please refresh your understanding of the game conditions and race restrictions listed in the first post of this thread. Send your race files to void211 at live dot com. You may send as many updates as you wish; I'll use the latest version I receive.

*** Please do NOT password protect your race files ***

Since I'll end up generating several universes to ensure there are no vastly unfair starting positions, it's a lot easier for me to do this without passwords. Since AutoHost will supply you a unique upload/download password, your game files are protected from peering eyes, regardless.

Let me know if you have any questions!
