A few turns ago, in a game, I received two messages in a row.
The first:
Quote: | A large comet has crashed into (xxx) bringing a wide variety of new minerals and drastically altering the planet's environment.
|
Planet xxx is a short distance east of my HW.
The next:
Quote: | Fundamental changes in the environment of (yyy) have permanently altered the planet's Temperature. This change has canceled all planetary production.
|
I don't recall ever experiencing this before. The environment changes were on my HW. Reduced from 100% to 91%.
Has anyone ever experienced this on HW before? Or is it perhaps a bug due to the fact this is a remapped game with some HW's having been moved.

I would wager that it has to do with the remapping. Played a lot of AI games with centuries of gens, but haven't ever seen a HW have that change. I thought that change happens only due to terraforming.
Btw, I doubt the comet hitting a world next to your HW caused the change.
May I suggest you ask for a regen. I've read other game threads where games were regened when a comet hit the HW in the starting phases of the game.
Edit - Hmm.. Guess I was lucky not having my HW face that problem.

I have seen a "Fundamental changes..." event at my HW in a testbed for The Wheel of Life IV. While that testbed was remapped, that was done using Universe Creator, and Universe Creator only changes the coordinates of planets, so that shouldn't affect the probability of a "Fundamental changes..." event for a given world. That "Fundamental changes..." event didn't invalidate that testbed, my race in The Wheel of Life IV is CA, so I only lost one year of production on my HW and a small amount of population growth - And the testbed was a worst-case scenario testbed. The Wheel of Life IV is still going on, but if anyone in The Wheel of Life IV hasn't worked out that my race is CA, then they are not paying any attention to what their scouts detect.
The "Fundamental changes..." event has a very low probability of happening, and possibly even lower for a HW, so just because few people have seen it happen to a HW doesn't mean it has anything to do with remapping that it happened in that game.

It is not due to remapping. I had this occur very early in several games, dropping my HW to as low as 30% in the first decade in one instance. Not as bad as the comet that hit my HW in 2401, altering the hab to red and killing 3/4 of my colonists.
