We are still trying to talk about our races with Carl. Once i was away, then he was away for few days. Now we should both be ready to finalize our races, just need a bit more time.

Hi, i have no contact with my ally for a week ... again Sad
I guess if Karl dont answer, I'll have to pass for this game or find another ally, if anyone is willing too.

Ask the host to find a new player if your ally is no longer playing. I had this problem recently and the host found an excellent new player.

If your "ally" is still playing but not talking to you then you need to look for someone else within the game.

The (playing) Host is absent too due to technical trouble. Confused

At first, I had no email contact with my ally for several days. Had to PM him here to communicate. He said he sent several mails from two different email addresses. Finally I found that his emails were being filtered to a sub-folder in my mail system. This also is happening with Craebild, host of another game I'm in. His mails go to yet another folder.

Strange. All other Stars! mails go to my inbox, including Autohost notifications. Double checked my filters and can't find anything that would send these two emails to different folders. Even when I created a filter to send them to correct place. So I have to keep checking those folders for new mails for now. Crying or Very Sad

Maybe I am using too many folders and filters and my email is getting confused sometimes lately.

I have a guess as to why that new filter to send e-mails to the right folder didn't work.

Filters are applied in order, so the topmost filter is applied first (at least in those e-mail programs I have worked with). This means that the new filter should be placed as the topmost filter, and your e-mail program probably placed the new filter at the bottom, where it is applied after the filter that sends those e-mails to the wrong folder, so the new filter doesn't find the e-mails because they have already been moved.

Another option would be to apply the filter to the folder(s) those e-mails are incorrectly moved to, but I am not certain how well it will work to have filters that tries to move the same e-mail twice.

Well, I just figured yours out after your last two mails. I had a guy name "Ian" sent to a special folder. And your emails went there. So you have to be careful about partial matches in the "From line" when filtering (mail rules) too. Duh.

The new mail filter from my ally, Joseph, in this game, I did move to the top, as I suspected that would be the case. But come to think of it, I haven't gotten new mail from him since we have submitted our races. Last year, was it? Laughing So maybe this new filter will work on his future mails.

Hi guys! Sorry for the radio silence ( Sleeping ) hehe but my phone got stolen Sad so it has been a hell of a month so far.

- GFX card blows up, home pc inoperable
- Internet at work down for a WEEK Scared
- Phone got stolen where all my email and autohost notification goes
- Meds (not the Silly hair kind, for my thyroid) either makes me pass out or makes it so I can't sleep so my weekend was a blurr as well Smile

so yea, I'm patiently awaiting the apocalypse any time now. In the absence of this I will forge ahead with the game.

I know nmid has offered to replace a player so get in contact with him.

If that's the only one we waiting for then we can go ahead in a few days once they sort it out. I know I'm not the ideal example as I still need to fine tune my race with m.a so that's why he hasn't sent in his Embarassed

The good news though of all this is that apart form the apocalypse it can't get *much* worse so we should be set for an uneventful hostmanship.

That would get nmid playing in the same team as Mac? Is that even thinkable? Confused

OTOH, I'm sure these two working together would really spice up the game. But they would perhaps spice it up a little too much. Hit over head

I didn't take some factors into account. I'd rather Mac1 find someone other than Nmid that I suggested. Nmid can still stand by as a potential substitute player some time on the future for a team as needed. Nod

If mac1 can't find someone then it might be for the best and we can potentially go back to large/normal (I think it was?) unless that would screw too many races over Smile

Parhaps we should advertise for replacements? Get some sort of auction going for the privilege to join the epicness? Try to hook Void in? Twisted Evil

Hmmmm, 3 months until generalized conflict with BBs starts sounds about right. But who knows what the pace will be toward the endgame slugfest when everybody has AMP-Nubs. Pirate

I was digging through my archives and found a team game from 2001. It was huge packed. Shocked There were four teams of three players. It ended in 2487. Shocked
Our team, the Morphs, (3, 9, 11) played by (Steve, me, Wayne) was (AR, JOAT, IT). It started beginning of June and ended late September. Must have been a helluva schedule? Shocked Steve, AR, was pumping out about 120,000 Kt each mineral per year.

Wow, that was quick! Was there time for any big battles? Or did the other Teams just surrender on sight?

My 1st Team game was Huge too, and advanced quickly, but we got lots of delays for RL reasons. We reached late game and slowed down to 1 turn per week, which allowed plenty of time for doing every turn, but felt a bit too slow. Sleeping

So, I'd say 3 months, plus a couple more with any luck... Rolling Eyes

I don't remember the battles back then. The turn files I had saved didn't show many battles. But I'm sure there were some. Lotsa nubian fleets floating around. And thousands of chaff came and went in some cases.

If I recall correct, the remaining contender team quit submitting. Some sort of vote on changing turn gens to longer. The vote was a draw. They voted longer. But we owned about 2/3 of the planets at the time. And we voted to continue as is.

Well, the delays allowed a bit more testing time. I'll send in a slight adjustment to my race when I get home tonight.

I simply don't remember enough of this game, but am trying to get back up to speed and the delay is helping with that. Smile

On the game length topic, I'm hoping this will go beyond 2500. Best game I was ever in -- long time >12 yrs ago -- lasted over a year to somewhere in the late 2500s and was playing on a MWF schedule.

I do recall playing an AR "Creepers" race with SD & WM allies that ended very early though. It was a 3x3 medium. Our WM was slow to get rolling, but my AR and teammate SD squeezed out a PP pretty early on. Packets are rather useless against AR planets. LOL The first Dreadnaughts took out what was left and when the other team saw those approaching their worlds, the surrender flag was out.

Also played in a few that were big dissapointments as over half the players just quit submitting turns pretty soon after public player scores showed up. I often thought the conclusion was far from obvious. But with so many dropping so early, the game would just fall apart. Sad

I especially disliked the games that had no set victory conditions and you'd get well into it sitting in the middle of the pack and thinking you might be able to move up a bit and then discover that the 4 players above you are all allied and declaring an ally victory. That's why I like set teams much better with no other alliances. I don't like only 1 player can win games much either as then the only way to really win is eventually backstab your allies -- not my style.

Looking forward to a fun game whenever we finally get started. Not in a hurry though as I have another vacation in early August and while I think I'll be able to submit turns, not positive Sad Don't worry I have a temp replacement all lined up if it is a problem, but much easier for someone to cover really early in the game than later when things get a lot busier.
