Yes, same game. Laughing Players #4 and #5 used cost 3 mines. Me too. Don't know about the others. Some didn't release their files for public viewing at the game end.

I think grabbing the most planets is what made #1 the strongest. He had plenty minerals to surpass everybody by end game.

I'm firmly in curiosity mode now...what was the tenor of this game? Was it filled with serious warfighting throughout, or was it more a race for nubians?

I've never played in a large game and I'm wondering if I ought to. I'd like to get a little better before I do, so pardon the elementary questions...

Cheers,
Void

Race for nubians? What kind of Stars! games have you been playing in? Smile

Well, the name of the game was "There can only be one," and at the time of the victory there were 3 deceased races (zero planets and ships left).

In the last year, player #11 in 4th place lost 1403 amp nubians to the leader in a battle.

What do you think? Smile

A sufficiently uncrowded game can have no serious conflict before battleships, and a very uncrowded one can be late enough in the BB era that most or all players are rushing for nubians by the time conflict starts.

Uncrowded? In the last diadochi game, enemies threw BBs 1400 lY to attack me (that is from Tunisia to Turkey iirc). Mining was problematic there. HG 14eff.

Diadochi Wars used a specially remapped universe. Not quite a standard game, I'd say. Rolling Eyes

2 years ago I found myself fielding BBs against a shadow alliance of 2 ITs with Nubs and an IS who soon got them, while I faced a long slog of researching the last 8 Const levels with the leftovers from massive defensive shipbuilding. Shocked

It was a Huge/Normal with 13 players, several of which were defeated early, so no particularly crowded. Deal

There was a race all right. And there were a lot of battles in what I called the BB era (but already was the Nub era for my enemies). There was a lot of conflict in the FF and CC eras too, but I wasn't involved in that. Lurking

All in all, an amazing game, with just enough epicness to make it worthwile despite the unfortunate lack of a final showdown. 2 Guns

I think sheer size made it possible, plus the fact that no-one surrendered without a fight. Pirate

Note: the Alien Miner helped several races to build their big fleets. Rolling Eyes

Sounds like the Alien Miner is quite a find for the late game. It also sounds pretty unbalancing, but I suppose it's that kind of randomness that adds spice to things.

It wasn't late. We hadn't yet reached turn 100, most planets still had good minerals, and Nubs were still a novelty (or a dream). Rolling Eyes

That's why most players don't walk but run to meet every single MT they can! Deal

Understandable! So far, my luck hasn't been very good in that respect.
