@nmid and BeeKeeper: I am sorry to hear you cannot take part in the game after all.

@AlexTheGreat: Welcome to the game.

It seems we need three more players now to start the game, any comers ?

Approximately when is this game planned to start?

If it's more than 5-6 months I can join, if not I'll wait for WoL VI or VII.

(Tenderfoot is eating up over an hour/turn with 3 turns/week, so that's about my Stars! quota.)

Hopefully it will be a good deal sooner than 5-6 months, but we will see what happens.

Like Magic Mushroom, im in a game Glacier that takes most of my stars time (at 3 turns a week). About 16 weeks of play left.

So if this game takes 3-4 months to get off the ground I would be interested.
My time zone is 0 GMT I dont have a Stars ally.

magic9mushroom and joseph, I have added you as tentative players, noting that your other games need to end first. If you get time before then just say so.

If the two of you could start now we would only need one more player to get started, but you can't start now, so if we are to start soon we will need more than one more player. We will have to see what happens.

I'm in this game, I'm going to be on the road for 10 days in July but I'll have a computer with me.

Do we have 4 teams yet?

Our team is ready to start, we're just waiting on everyone else.

Welcome to the game, Taka Tuka, you are in.

If magic9mushroom and joseph can start now, then the game is full. However, they said they have to end their current games (Tenderfoot and Glacier, respectively), so unless they have been killed off in those games we still need two players.

I'd be happy to team up with you if you have no objection. Time zone is the only problem I see. I am in Cebu, Philippines (GMT+8) at the moment & will be for an estimated 3-5 months. After that I will be in Sydney, Australia (GMT+10).

Craebld, I assume that we can take our teammate's turns if one cannot play for a little while? eg. when I move back to Australia I will be unable 2 submit turns for a couple of weeks while I move countries, buy furniture/equipment, get the internet on & generally set up house.

Why would an AR burden the pre-gen thingy (much) more than any other race?

If you are worried about research during the 50 year pregen you could set Energy as your research field & set GR on.

An AR doesn't grow in nearly the same way as ANY other race, even -f races. The problem is that a) I can't build factories or mines and b) while my pop growth is the same as a -f perhaps, my resources does not grow the same as my pop becasue of the squeare root thing.

Basically in a 50y pregen I would be severely handicapped in both minerals and resources, more so than even an HE perhaps.

So in order to NOT have that happen an AR needs a lot of help during a 50y gen to be on par with the other races.

I'm curious how much that disadvantage would be made up for by the avoiding of the more vulnerable early AR stages.

edit: whoops.

Hmm a lot would probably be made up actually. but the problem is the "early" stages of the game just starts with more tech and more powerful enemies without me having a fleet strong enough or ANY diplomacy done. It's an interesting thing actually that I should testbed come to thing about it. See what I can in 25y after the 50gen and with a -f race and a f race....

welll I guesss so. It's mostly a problem where there's NO allies. Hmm lemme run a few things and see how bad it is. But I have a feeing it's gonna be pretty bad Smile

hehe... man was I wrong. It's not bad, it's beyond your worst version of apocalypse.

Took a solid AR that can get 25 by 2450 given perfect circumstances. Resources is 1174, energy is at 15, mining rate if below 30 is 34kt and none of the mineral bars are full. les than 5k on surface and half that if poor conc

Took an example JoaT from the forum 1/1000 12/7/13 12/3/13 and got 3047 resources, 17 weap +-20 000Kt of each min and 556Kt mining rate

Took an example HP JoaT also from the forum (tweaked a little but still insane) 1/2500 15/7/21 13/3/18 and got 4225 resources weapons at 18 20 000Kt - 30 000Kt on surface with mining rate of 835Kt

yea.. soo.. no, survival is not worth THAT 0.o

Hi,

I am interested in joining if there is still space left and if you will let me in (as below).

I am in the beginner catagory. It has been maybe 5 years or so since I last played Stars! and even back then though I did play my fair share of multiplayer games against human opponents I was still beginner but I played for fun. I just feel like playing Stars! again recently and just go the XP emulation working on my Windows 7 Premium with idiots guide which worked (happy days!).

I can have my race file to you as soon as (this week) and will play proper, wont miss a turn (until Im dead) that I can promise. BUT as I say I am only beginner level.

If no beginners is strictly no exceptions then no worries will keep my eye open for beginner games.

Regards,
Phil.

It looks like the game is full now, with the following players:

leknufrag and Galien: Team 1
LittleEddie and Centaurian: Team 2
AlexTheGreat and Taka Tuka: Team 3
BlueTurbit and ForceUser: Team 4

magic9mushroom and joseph stated they would not be able to play for some months from now, so it seems they might find a place in a future "The Wheel of Life" game.

I will get back with some additional information in a short while.
