You can look in the FreeStars forum to see what progress there is on a clone of Stars! if you are interested. However, making the clone work on Windows, and perhaps Linux, seems to be the highest priority, I don't think porting the clone to other platforms is very high on their agenda.

Hmm, Wine for Android...

That might be viewed with interest by some, but how many Android devices has a screen resolution that would allow a Windows application to be effectively used ?

There is a DOSBox for Android, so you could theoretically use the win3.11 thingy

I loaded "Wind OS" onto my Android phone. It is supposed to give an XP type interface and the first appearance looks promising but there is no file manager application so no obvious way to access a C:\ drive. There is a browser but I can't so far get it to download anything.

Then I discovered the app is really just a game - you can play minsweeper on it and that is about it.

Looked promising for a while!

If only there was a Java library for the game files...

Well technically you can compile to native code with an SDK so you don't need Java. However, I have had no luck finding a useful enough DOSBOX to install windows into (as if its worth trying!) My only success has been in a VNC Viewer, but its really annoying to try and play in that setting.

I suppose it would be possible to program something you could log in on and run windows MACROS or something that could take a screen shot of the game and send it to you, or pull out all the battle text and send it to you. Maybe it could take several screen shots and send you one on request (Different planets, fleets, ETC.) using the macros that you prebuild. I mean you don't actually want to finish up a turn while on your android, you just want to think about all the available data for a little. If I only had the time.

Another option might be a remote access client on the Android. A quick Google found Xtralogic, which says it allows you to access a Windows PC from an Android. I have used remote access PC to PC and it wasn't brilliant in terms of speed but that shouldn't be much of a problem for Stars.

A good way to stop worrying about the surgery.
All the best.

As for the droid stars, I think I want a version too.
I'm getting a Sony Ericsson Arc pretty soon <3.
