I have found scouts flying past a planet but not picking up any details of the planet, despite the plant being within range of the crout's scanners. I have to turn the scout round and send it back. This has happened on two different PCs. Is this a bug? I am using 2.7RC3.

Did you fly the scouts by at the very edge of rated penscan range;e.g., penscan range is 50ly and planet was 50.6ly away? My experience is that you won't see the planet in this scenario, better to be 49.6ly from the planet.

Please state the scout's scanning ranges (penetrating and openspace) and the exact distance of the planet to the ship. Sherlock

Also, bear in mind that scanning takes place at the end of each "jump" the ships do, not while they're in transit. Deal

Thank you, I did not realise the scout does not scan planets it flies by in transit during the move - and therefore it only shows the planets within scanner range at the end. This does not seem very realistic but if that is the way it is then I will need to adjust the speed and length of each jump.

Since we've implemented disengaging pen scanners during warp speeds, we have noticed a significant decrease in pilots arriving at their destinations with crossed eyes. Yep.

Considering that the ships aren't traveling thru "real" space when jumping faster than light, wellll... Teleport
