Does anyone know why the ini file located in C:\Users\Per Rindom\Local Settings\VirtualStore\Windows gets updated (e.g. when changing screen layout), but does not use NewReports=1 feature?

In such a setting, STARS.ini should not even be created in the Windows folder...
Maybe I've been told wrong?

As I understand it, Windows Vista & 7 both fudge programs write access to the %windows% folder by overlaying the files in C:\Users\Username\Local Settings\VirtualStore\Windows. Thus for Vista and 7, stars.ini is in this directory instead and Stars.exe can't tell the difference.

| It wouldn't. The stars.ini in C:\Users\Per Rindom\Local Settings\VirtualStore\Windows is definitely the one being used - it is being updated.

Stars! predates the install systems win95+, hence the just copy and run, no installation first.
