I have been itching to start a new game but have not seen any new games starting recently, so I will try hosting one. The last game I finished was dominated by large alliances with IT and CA races, so I wanted to play in a game that would be guaranteed to turn out differently. I like having allies, but wanted to keep it reasonable number.
So here is a game of teams of 2 players.
Race restrictions, CA and IT are banned, Joat cannot take NAS. I wanted to see some combinations other than the obvious for a team, hence the banning of CA & IT.
All races other than your teammate must be set to enemy. I am also thinking about banning communication with anyone other than your teammate, but I can go either way with this. So if you are interested in playing, please state your preference on this.
No tech trading with anyone other than your teammate. Only one race per player, you cannot submit your allies turn.
Other game settings are as follows:
- Distant players position
- AccBBS
- random events on
- PPS off.
Standard cheat disclaimer, which means that the following cheats are allowed:
- chaff
- split fleet dodge
- merge fleets after gating
- Mine damage dodge
Universe density will be normal and universe size will depend on number of players. We will shoot for 25-30 planets per player.
Turns would be MTWTF until 2430 or someone requests a slow down. From there they would be MWF.
Condition of victory, PPS being turned on at 2500 and then a vote. If there is no clear victor, we keep playing until there is a clear victor by vote.
Host is playing, so I will need a volunteer to check races and to remap the universe so that teammates start next to each other.
I am open for any other suggestions for this game as well. If you want to play, but don't have a teammate, just mention that and we will match up all those who want to play.

Team game! Nice ... has been a while.
Experience level?

Diversity. Good.
Double PRTs allowed? Not that it matters this much with IT banned.

IF I join my preference would be no cooperation allowed between teams. That includes info sharing.
You already have one ally, you can't possibly need two more.
Can't imagine why you would not be allowed to submit your allies turn. Races will be tweaked, playing will be tuned, .x files will be mailed back and forth (drop box?) for optimal cooperation. But if your ally is about to miss his turn you can't submit?

All good!

Good, no endless game.

You could consider NO team starting next to eachother. All teams with at least one enemy between them. Played such a game, hosted by AE, was a different but tasty flavour. Anyway, fine with this setting (starting close) that you chose as a host, just wanted to mention the other option.

Experience level would be intermediate & up.
Double PRTs would be allowed, though I don't know why you would want to. I would think this is the perfect time to team up a PRT with a weakness, like warmonger, AR, or SS and combine it with a PRT that covers that weakness.
I didn't want players to submit their allies turn simply because I didn't want one player playing two races. I realize the allies will be downloading each others turns and sharing all info. All interested players can vote on this as well.
Interesting idea not having the players start next to each other, that is a game I would want to play in. However, I think that would make some combinations of races unplayable, like no one would take AR in that situation, but if they started next to each other AR is playable, difficult but playable. For now I would like to start races next to each other to encourage race combinations that you would not see in normal games.
So if you want to play, post your preference for communication with non-teammates and submitting your allies turn.

As I said it doesn't matter so much with IT banned since that is the most dangerous combiation. They are very fast in expanding into eachother space. I met such a three headed beast! (in one of the teamgames I hosted myself, Rings with 4 teams of 3, and in which I forgot to allow a PRT only once per team) They gave my team (IT-WM-IS) a very hard time but diversity won the game in the end.

So you don't want one player playing two races, of course, but the actual uploading shouldn't be forbidden. That would hurt a team that keeps its word but someone cheating and playing two races could care less. IOW that would be punishing honest players.

Both options are fun and have their own challenges. One is not better than the other.
That said the game I mentioned that had such a setup (it was Schizophrenia hosted by AE, and the actual setup was that 1 player played two races, hence the name) *did* feature an AR. It was sure not the first race/team to leave the game! True the player was definately high above intermediate but so were most of the others.

Hi all
I'm interested in this game. I'll try to find a teammate
I prefer teams starting close o each other, it gives more playable races
Prefer to be able to submit for a teammate, so if he got to leave for a week i wont have to ask for a hold.
If the game is with more than 4 teams i would prefer game chat on, so teams starting far away can have general info of what's going on and a chance to react (but no other form of communication than public chat)
edit:
I found a teammate - Skandal (we are both polish)
He cant post now
He votes for uploading teammate turns
And for communication on

I'm tempted to get in, but I tend to lose track once the game goes on too long.
My vote would be for medium normal or large sparse, to be honest.

ManicLurch wrote on Wed, 18 August 2010 05:55 | I believe our options with Medium are dense(360 planets, 25 planets per player with 14 players, 22.5 planets per player with 16) and packed(540 Planets, 38 planets per player with 14 players and 33.75 with 16 players) verses Large normal (512 planets, 36 planets with 14 players and 32 with 16).
Do you want fewer planets per player and have the fighting start sooner? Or do you want more planets to grow with? Cast your vote for universe size and density. I think my vote is medium dense.
|
My vote would be: definately *not* large. Medium gives a better chance to a decent ending in 2500 with the opportunity to have fought every team.
14 players - med/dense - 25 planets
16 players - med/paked - 33.75 planets
Oh, and if ccmaster is playing, ban -f HE, for his own good. Also for that of the other players, it thrives too well in this enviroment and the game will be short and without fun for the races starting next to him.
