If I donate for a serial number does that serial number work with the stand alone game or only with the autohost? Though I am interested in online play I like playing stand alone as well.

Also, although I have purchased this game several times already (once for myself back in the day, once for a friend as a present and once when they had the multi player pack (which came with several serial numbers)) I do not have any of the original disks anymore. I probably disposed of them when I got really busy and realized that Stars! was being too distracting or when the disks got separated from the S/N's.

Do I need an original disk or can I "patch up" from the the shareware version I downloaded last night (stars26b.zip)?

If so, does the donation come with instructions on getting the full game up and running?

I bought GalCiv2 last week and find it kinda boring. So now I wanna go old school and start playing Stars! again!

thanks in advance for all your help.

Both.

If you can find your SN's, you can use those with the files on AH downloads section.

I believe you can download the latest from the downloads area. Here is the one for the multiplay pack I think you mean.

I think you just unzip it to a directory, fire up the exe (download the help files to) and enter your SN when the splash screen comes up.

Playing against AI's is usually boring. Wink

Don't get too impatient, it may take Ron a while to get you the serial.

The link Matt has given you indeed holds the entire game, just unzip, launch the .exe and enter the serial.

Have fun! Stars! is a great game! But it's at its best when playing against other humans.
