Hi.
I'm trying to make maps from stars game files.
I've seen everybody speaking of some magic .p files that I need to feed Xtreme borders. I wasn't able to find how can I export my currently opened turn in .p file.
Though I was able to do Report->Dump to text file->Universe definition. Then I got .map file and was able to open it with Xtreme borders. But when moving this file out from the folder with current turn and trying to open it, Xtreme borders gives me an error saying "no players files found for this map".

So how should I properly use Xtreme borders?

Add the line "NewReports = 1" to the [Misc] section of your stars.ini file.
Then do Report -> Dump to Text File -> Planet Information.
This should create a gamename.pXX file, where XX is your race number.

(Without NewReports it creates a .pla file that doesn't contain all the information).

Thanks, this indeed produces .p file Smile
But Xtreme borders doesn't see this type of file. So I need to generate .map file as well, right?

I've tried to do so, generated one .p file and one .map file. Placed them both in the same folder. Navigated to this folder in Xtreme borders, selected .map file. Then Xtreme borders displayed my .p file with checkbox and text input field. What am I supposed to enter in this field? I tried leaving it empty, entering race password, entering current year. All this was followed by error message: "runtime error 380: invalid property value". Not very informative... Sherlock

What should I enter there?

It is the game year of the .p# file that goes in the text field next to the name of the .p# file, while you write the current game year in the text field that is labelled that.

You do need to create the .map file, then select the .map file. Xtreme Borders then automatically selects any matching .p# files. You only need to create the .map file once, though, as that only contains the names and coordinates of the stars.
