I searched wiki found nothing. Searched forum and found one message but I am still confused and would like confirmation.

Max Terraform will change Hab for the better no matter what, provided you have resources to do it.

How exactly does Min terraform work?

Min terraform in your queue will only terraform if the planet is not green. So you can use it to terraform until the planet is green then it will go on to factories, etc.

To be a little more precise than ManicLurch:

Min. terraform will terraform the planet if the current hab value is negative and terraforming the planet is possible with the current terraforming technology.

Max. terraform will terraform the planet if terraforming the planet is possible with the current terraforming technology, regardless of the actual hab value.

In both cases, the hab parameter terraformed is the hab parameter which gives the highest increase in hab value, of the hab parameters where terraforming the planet is possible with the current terraforming technology. If two hab parameters will give the same increase, then the order of priority is gravity - temperature - radiation. If it takes longer than one year to perform a 1% terraforming task, then it will only be partially completed the first year, and completed later.

You should keep in mind that as your tech levels increases, so does your terraforming ability, so a planet that is terraformed to max. will start further terraforming when you gain additional terraforming tech, unless you have other orders preventing that. Having min. terraform at the top of the queue is usually a very good idea, while max. terraform should usually be at the bottom of the queue.

Taking this one step further then, how many pop is considered optimal in teraforming a yellow? I've been dropping ~75,000, as more than that seam to die off quickly, and less than that don't get the job done in a timely manner.

How do others approach Teraforming?

I hate "partially completed" stuff in my queues. thus with a 1/2 done terraform, I invested the resources and get nothing to show for it the following turn.

Thus I like at least 100 resources to do a terra.

With a factoryless race, that is close to 165,000 colonists (That gives 110 resources actually)

with a factory race, I guess they say at -1 or -2 do the terra first, and for deeper yellows, first factories (at least some of them) then the terra. I guess it depends on what kind of a green it will be when it comes out of yellow. I just hate those 0% greens.... We got a lot of those in home high ground...
