Star craft is virtually the best online game there is. It will be that way until star craft 2 comes out. I'm dieing to play the best RTS game ever. I cant wait for it to come out. Although i think its stupid its being sold as a trilogy. Cant wait to get my hands on Protos. Looking forward to playing with anyone in this community when it comes out. For those of you who dont know what star craft is here is a link. http://www.sc2armory.com/
Dont know what there is to talk about maybe you can mention if you enjoy playing with zergs, terrans, or protos.

You have a point. I never played SC until 3 years ago.

I am actually not sure that SC2 will > SC1.

Most games these days seem to be fond of gimmicks and graphics over gameplay. Oh, and physics engines. Seriously. A physics engine in an RTS that had realistic damage would be ok (and incredibly awesome), but physics engines in RTSs with HP are a waste of processor power.

ill have more links soon.. i was up late last night watching game play videos. Its very similar to the first games game play, new units, new abilities, they are taking there time developing this game to balance everything out. Ill post some epic demo battles when i find the link again. I love playing as Protos. i just hope when it comes out it comes with a way better map editor than the first one.

Better map editor? The map editor for the first game was awesome.

That's also what they did with the first one, so it's good news.

SC is another game with a steep curve. I have seen third party software for macros, additional keybinding, and even total afk play(I wish I knew Gugeo). The first few minutes of a bot game don't seem particularly fast, but after a few structures are built...
Earlier today I was asked how people play, using only a keyboard Laughing

I dont remember SC having a steep learning curve. Its a rather simple game. Although learning additional hot keys or strategies may take some time. AI is pretty fast at rushing but once you take a big enough force to the AI they fold. Although there are some player made maps with improved AI that prove to be very challenging.
EDIT: Added
How and why on earth would anyone play just using the key board.. Thats gotta be worse then trying to micromanage the game with a controller.

I guess that Neil refered to playing with a keyboard versus using hacks.

I can't imagine what is fun about using hacks... I always used the keyboard shortcut, and when you are really used with them I am sure they work faster than any hacks or helpers... Confused

I cant fathom why anyone would use hacks unless they are week gamers. Its rather sad. People should only play and win using there own legit skill.

The curve I spoke of was to a point one of speed, rather than learning. There are a styles where scale breaks into class. The first being KBO, and the second is AFK. In the one class, the game (usualy SC mini- a 20meg repack) with mods disabling scrolling, is played only using selection macros and snap-to keybindings. The second class involves customized bots playing each other on randomized maps, only coached by the players. These games barely resemble regular SC due to the extreme speed at which they are played.

I must say iv played the game for 10 years and I have no idea on what your talking about. Good thing Iv only played against legit players that play the right way.

I've often wondered what Stars! would be like if you could write your own AI to play the game and have custom AI vs custom AI games.

Have fun.

The map editor was ok for starcraft1 but that had a steep learning curve.
I always had to use other editors made to finish off maps. Im pretty sure that i read somewhere starcraft2 is releasing the same map tools the creators used to make the game.
Hopefully its not so limited.
Either way its always cool adding triggers to improve AI.
One map that i think unbalances the game and gets really old after awhile is that people seem to always play maps on multiplayer with mineral fields having unlimited mins.

This thread is for star craft 2!!

Well, one of my dearest personal interests would be to craft an AI for Stars! as interesting and customizable as the ones for Starcraft. Or at least the API to allow it. Deal
