Anyone here play it? Wanna challenge? We can set up our own little game lobby right here Very Happy

For those who don't play it, check it out here. It's good. And if you really like it - subscribe and say I got you to (then I get an extra months' subscription time Wink )

Sooo...anyone want a battle?

I tried LSN years ago when it came out. Pleasantly surprised to see it still appearing to be going strong, apparently improved.

I'll try the trial.

Not a big fan of paying a monthly fee to play a game though, I greatly prefer one off fees. :/ (Imagine if Stars had been subscription software LOL)

Maybe I should dust off my amstrad cpc emulator and have a game of Laser Squad Smile

I think the subscription model works well for games requiring contiuous resources or frequent releases of new content (which ias basically all MMO games, but not much else). For any other games, I agree the one-off payment is better.

Yeah... And this is the sort of game I think I'd only really want to play with against a few of my mates, in play-by-email... If it takes me a couple of weeks to complete each game, and I don't expect to play lots of games at once... Then the cost per game looks unfriendly. The model is skewed towards people that will play the game 'intensely'. I'd rather they supported it with ads or something, ahahahhaha, so the hardcore players 'cop' the worst of it.

And... I've activated a new trial subscription Very Happy

Challenge me if you like. Name in LSN is "dogthinker"

Currently getting a spanking handed to me by a 'instructor'. He demonstrated to me, with hideous results, how a well placed soldier can bounce a grenade right back into your own squad. Ouchies.

Managed to sneak a couple of grunts behind him though, and nailed an annoying sniper, so it's not *completely* one sided. (Just mostly one-sided Very Happy )

Well done Very Happy I've sent my invitation! Yes grenadiers can be awfully annoying if you don't make sure they do exactly as you tell them.

I had a medic in a match a couple of days back who gunned down three snipers on his own with his little laser pistol before they could even squeeze a shot off! We decided he was definitely MvP.

Yeah LSN is in the process of being updated again, so soon it will be better than ever before! Perhaps I should have explained the game a bit better earlier on.

LSN is like chess - only with lasers, grenades, destructible terrain and horrible monsters from outer space. Enough said really Razz

It is one of those "minute to learn, lifetime to master" games, and though it may seem almost simplistic on the surface, the depth of the game is really quite impressive. There are whole "bibles" dedicated to a particular strategy for a particular race!

I look forward to more challenges!

I'm a retired LSN player.

Want advice? I'm a great Mech player. Smile
