I asked ptolemy, but he forgot to get around to answering it.

How do weapon slots affect accuracy? i have been told that wing slots on a battleship are bad...how do the # of weapons in a slot determine power and accuracy?

Accuracy is not effected by the slots or numer of weapons. What matters is getting "kills within a stack" versus "just damaging" the entire stack.

The damage of all weapons in one slot go to one ship in the enemy stack, if it is enough to kill that ship it's dead, if it's not than the damage gets distributed over the entire stack. Now a 99% damaged stack does the same damage to your ships as an undamaged stack. So you want to kill ships and diminish his firepower that way.

Obviously the larger weap slots on a BB (the 6*slots) have a higher chance to achive that goal, while the wing slots with only 2 weap probably won't be able to kill anything (except when the ships in the stack are damage enough already) and you'll often see them empty or fitted with sappers.
This is also what makes the DN with his 8*slot such a good ship and an excellent missile platform. It's one of the advantages it has over a nubian.

Just a clarification:
The damage from one slot (for the whole stack) hits the enemy stack, if that damage is more then one ship of the enemy stack has, it kills ships. Any remainder (the whole amount if the total damage is less then one ships worth) is distributed over the whole enemy stack.

This makes cheaper (but presumably more numerous) ships more dangerous as they'll have more weapons in one big heap and will get more kills sooner. This is one advantage of leaving weapons off BBs.

Better understandable than what I said (and more detailed)! Thanks. Smile

Since shields are added together, the above notes do not apply to shields and hence sappers work fine on the "wings".
