can someone show me an example and explain the benefits/detriments of it?

also, question 2..how many resources does a comp tend to get in an Acc BBs game by 2450? size medium with 8 players

Can you rephrase this question? Do you mean:
In a medium/normal universe with 8 players, what would be a realistic resource target for 2450?

i was playing a game with comps and humans so i was wondering whether the person ahead of me was a comp or a human..but i'm certain now that it was a human..figured..i just wanted to make sure it wasn't possible for expert comps to actually be competitive or something..losing to a comp would suck

anyways my other question was what a QS race is and an example of it? i know how to make a -f HG, or HP now but i still don't know what qs stands for

QS = Quick Start

Similar to a HG but has better/less factories. Also takes attributes that make it quicker at the start.

Consider the following (not a great race - but ilustrates the point).

Joat (quick early scouting)
IFE, NRSE, NAS, OBRM, RS (IFE = quick expansion)
G imm, T -116 to +116 R 39-67 = 1/7 (immunity and narrow rad = few BIG early planets)
F 12/8/12 (good return but not many factories)
M 10/3/11
Tech Cheap W all rest expensive (for quick rad terraforming).

Play Style - scout fast, colonise few good greens fast and heavily. As soon as HW hits green queues at 25% get C6 and W8-10 then build a bunch of harrasment frigates.
Get C9 W10-12 build early assault force of crusiers - hit nearest enemy before they have cruisers or jihads.
Then get battleship when convienient.

Think a bit slower than -f but faster than HG.

Benefits: faster that anything (but 1WW). Used to kill the common HGs and -fs.
Detriments: for speed pays with the hab. 1-in-10 or even less ==> very vulnerable to bad planet draw. Must be played very agessively ==> target for an early gang-up.

The HE AI can become fairly big, if given time and room to expand. Rolling Eyes Play it in a Large dense or a Huge galaxy and its resources/tech will shoot past yours easily. Shocked

Not that it's too hard to beat, even then, though. Twisted Evil
