 From what I know about -F races, if you didn't "absorb" one of your neighbor by 2450 then you are really in trouble... If you do, however, you should not have that kind of problem until it's not much of a problem anymore because you are already quite in the late game...

You can backfill your core planets to get more production - the thing -f needs the most in late game.
