Anyone else have the experience that the minicoloniser hull will occassionally determine the hab and pop of another race's colonised planet it is orbiting if there is no orbital?
That is, a minicol with nothing in the mech slot occassionally acts like it has a batscanner if there is no orbital.
I don't have time just now to test it thoroughly (eg: with items in the mech slot, or other situations when it does/doesn't occur, or if it happens with other hulls) at the moment.
Cheers,
S.

I hadn't previously scanned the planet, so no old data - speaking of which, I just noticed I have min concs and hab data. On first glance I failed to notice min concs. I have left a minicol sitting over one planet and watched the population increase.
No pop drop in this instance.
I can send through the .h and .m files for multiple turns if you like - you'll see what I mean.
OK ok .. somehow found some time I didn't think I had. It seems to be something to do with the HE PRT and not the hull. Put a ANY SCOUT hull with the gen slot filled or not and without a scanner and 2 turns over another player colony in a test and I have the min concs, hab and pop. HE seems to have an inbuilt bat scanner that works when there is no orbital.
Cheers,
S.

As far as I know this has been working for HE for some time. I have seen HE players habitually parking mini-colonizers over inhabited worlds - CCMaster always does it.

yup.
I have noticed the same thing.
I did not do tests to determine when the scan happened and when it did not, but it seemed to depend upon a battle, or perhaps just on another ship in orbit.

It does not appear to work for all races all the time. For example, IS and SS appear to have a random chance of not being 'scanned' if the hull does not have a scanner onboard.
