Does anyone have a testbed with something like the following conditions:
- 2 of every PRT
- Full tech
- All or most MT items

If you do, would you consider zipping the files and making them available?

There is this:
http://wiki.gible.net/files/battlesim.zip

It doesn't have 2 of every PRT, it skips IT, PP, and JOAT.
It does have 2 of each of the others, one with and one without RS.
All races have all MT parts except the Genesis device, and several of them have that.
All races have max tech, and tons of minerals. But only one planet to build with, which isn't a problem as you can just generate 100s of years to let them build your test fleet.

Cool, thanks, that really deals with battle simming issues since, as the doc says, IT/PP/Joat don't really bring anything unique to the battle.

A caveat: the tech in Battlesim is maxed. That means you can easily get different targeting priorities as in your game you're testbeding for.

Good caveat, thanks for the reminder. Am I right in remembering that the battle engine targets Boranium heavy after targetting one-hit-kills? I'm sure this was discussed in depth, can someone point me to the proper discussion?

You can use this spreadsheet to check attractiveness.
I think there's also one in SBPosey's spreadsheet? I've got a heavily modded version of that (one of my teammates is an excel geek!) and I'm not sure what is in the original ... If there is one in there I suspect it to be more accurate ... (or at least the same)

Wumpus has made battlesim modifier that hacks the files to have particular tech levels (for all races same but thats how far you can get):
http://wumpus.mine.nu/stars/battlesim_tech.php

Other important thing is how the tokens are split and where they start. That does not affect firing, but affects battle board movement when there are multiple players present.

That is especially important when testing warships with weapon ranges 2 or lower. Testbed shows that you win easily but in reality your short ranged ships first try to clean wrong corner and get slaughtered by capital missile fire from other corner. Wink

And here I just thought it was because the captains were insane.
