I do'nt really care who though i'd prefer to only watch one person as I don't want to spend my free time watching other people have fun..but i thought if i watched a reasonably good player play through a game i would learn a lot. I would of course keep it confidential and not interfere in the game in anyways..you don't even have to tell me who you're playing, just email the turns to me each turn so i can see what you did.

I'd particularly love to see someone play SD, SS, PP, or AR..as they seem to be the most complex races

Well, if you send me a PM message, I can probably accomodate you with this request since I will be playing a new game that is due to start in the next week or so.

perhaps the best way to do this would be to set up an archive of the duelist championship game each year so that people can download the final game and see what areas they can improve on in there own game? This would also take out some of the sudden turns that can happen in a diplomatic game and allow a player to just see the economy phase then the warring phase so that a base line of improvement can hopefully be taken in by the observer.

Either case has it's merits. It may be more difficult to set up a duel that is open for anyone to download though. I have no problem sending out my turn to a specific individual to look at and learn from. The growth phase remains consistent thgough most games but duels are a different beast and tend to be much faster start with early wars. Usually they are in small or tiny universes.

A while back, there was a team game created for beginners and advanced players where advanced players were teamed with the beginners - as mentors as well as allies. This game worked out pretty well as far as I know. I wasn't playing it but, I set the game up and created the teams.

I have archives of a few games that I've played in... I don't mind sending you one if you wish. I should warn you though, stepping through already-played turns isn't as interesting as you might expect Laughing You'd only see my side of the match though.

Lot of people probably have archived their games anyway. Rolling Eyes

I for example usually have archives the e-mails of game related communications plus the ones that autohost has sent to me (with turn files) plus final turn directory. Nod

Such archive is relatively small ... say about 10MB/file. Unnoticeable on a modern hard drive (even few dozens of them dont fill a CD). Only problem that its not overly suitable for e-mailing them around. Wink

There are free methods to share stuff like that. One might be briefcase.yahoo.com.

Well, I just forwarded a game to yoey, who asked for a -f IS to take a look at. Not that I'd call myself a pro, but it was an interesting game. If anyone else wanted it, it's about 6mb.

It was a bit of an eccentric game though (WNSS), as scanners were only permitted on HW. Laughing

A public "thank you" for the files dogthinkers!

I am currently being wiped out of my first AH game. I wrote to GT that i would like to see a game played through the eyes of a more advanced player. I highlighted secific points that i know i need work on.He not only gave me that, but gave me one of same PRT and similar hab/lrt! I have found it most informative. I am going through the entire game micromanaging every item as if i was doing it myself. If only i had this perspective 3 months ago!

Assimilating all the information here on the forums and putting it into practice takes time. But SEEING it done first-hand has made the process much easier!

Thanks again AH and Dogthinkers

I've just sent you the same game I sent voev.

I've got a long way to go before I can call myself an advanced player, but it was a very aggressive game and you'll get to see aggressive expansion followed by heavy defense, then heavy offense, and finally intense logistics leading all the way up to nubians.

Bit of a quirky game though (limited scanners) so some of the ship designs are a bit odd - I'd never normally cloak ships to just 55%... No cloaking or 97%+ are much more common for me... Off-orbit population stores are also something you'll almost never see in normal games either Laughing

You'll also get to watch me coping with CE Laughing

if I could get that file as well, or just a file from a testbed, I need to learn how to better manage my resources.

Sure... I emailed you the game I passed to the others. It's -f, so perhaps not ideal for what you were looking for... Although the mineral balancing in late game was some of the most involved I've done. Wink

Thats fine. While it may not have factories and such involved, I think my main problem is colonist and mineral balance. So -F should be fine.

edit: fixed spelling error

I know this is old, but I think this kind of thing would really help my game.

Does anyone have something they're willing to offer up? preferably an HP race, but anything is really fine.

Don't be afraid to point me in the right direction. ~^.^~

Or you could offer to host an advanced+ player game and observe them all Wink

Just don't let them bully you too much with the initial game settings Very Happy
