I've never actually tried playing against it to find out how easy or hard it is too beat but it does look like fairly big challenge. I can never motivate myself to play properly against the AI since it just seems a waste of time.

It gives a reasonable challenge. It also takes some time to actually exterminate. Time practicing and honing skills and discarding worthless ideas is not a total waste. Twisted Evil

They just seem dumb lol.. Most of them dont even build any sort of weapon ship. 400years later they still make beta destroyers.lol
Its not so much that they have race design flaws.. They just dont do any tasks..
Wish i could code something better my self.. I just don't have those skills.

No, as Gible said, a lot of the reason for AI passivity is the fact that most of their mines are beyond crap.

It's not just that. The HE AI does a good job of fighting with packets and merging large fleets built at many places if you let it room and time to expand. But it lacks gates for proper mobility. Sadly, the only other AI with gates and some stamina, the AR, doesn't use gates either. The CA AI doesn't even bother to expand, which it could do fast and wide without good mines. Confused

Also, most AI ships are crappy designs, so even if they build them en masse they lose. Shocked

I said that minelessness is a lot of the reason for AI passivity, not AI ineffectiveness. Laughing

It isn't really, because it doesn't use shields. Some years ago I "gave" appropriate mines/factories and corrected techs to three expert AIs (HE, SS, AR) in small dense uni, while I played 3-immune 7% AR. After I got to Jihads was the game practically over. Despite HE had weap-24, they still've kept building weap-16/18 metas, with maybe 2 shields. My Jihad CCs were in use for 30+ turns. I only switched to Jugg BBs because CCs couldn't kill 4k-armor Metas fast enough. At about 2515 I stopped playing, because I conquered ~40% planets, so the game became too MM intense, and my Jugg BBs still haven't had any real opposition.

BR, Iztok

Ever tried seting up a colony less than 150 lys from the HE AI sphere of influence? I'd call their berserk reaction anything but passive. Confused
