 Has anyone here run Stars! on Windows x64 (64-bit)? It would run fine if it didn't do the stupid machine check.

 As I understand things, Win64 does not support 16 bit applications, and stars is 16 bit (ie: runs on windows 3.1).

It may be possible to run Stars by using an emulator such as DosBox, then installing and running win31 inside of DosBox.

 Mmmm... Well I have DOSBox, but I haven't had disks for Windows 3.1 for years. I know Stars! ran on Windows 2k so maybe I'll repartition my drive for a Win2k partition the next time I reformat. What a pain. I'd so be willing to pay for a new shareware version of Stars! if they released one.

 It won't run on XP? Noooooo!
I just found my old stars! cd and installed it, have asked Ron for a new serial since I seem to have lost my old one, and can prove I have a legitimate cd
(http://folk.uio.no/ajhallin/div/stars.jpg Even cleverly included my nick, although that was a coincidence Razz).

But if it won't run.. I had so looked forward to replaying this game.. I can't even begin to guess how may hours I spent playing stars!. Boohoo. Sad

 It will run on regular WinXP that most people have. However rare/new 64 bit edition will take a little work.
