This is almost funny! I wonder if it applies to forums like this. Supposedly, it doesn't apply to anyone using their real identity, so I guess I'm safe. Smile

Somehow I find this legisltion very confusing - for instance, it says:

Quote:

It rewrites existing telephone harassment law to prohibit anyone from using the Internet "without disclosing his identity and with intent to annoy."

Seems to me I disclosed my identity when I signed up with my ISP...

Now, (fortunately I don't live in George W's police state so I 'may' be safe), seems to me many of us can be in BIG trouble. I.e. The Sneaky Stalks post nasty in-game messages to the Snotty Noses for 5 turns in order to annoy them and provoke them into attacking. Guess we better send the Sneaky Stalks player to jail since the game has been played by using the internet....... Confused

Though we often ask how and why, we must also do to get the answers to the questions.

Are you suggesting this isn't you, Matt? Perhaps some alien has invaded you? Smile

As to the first...Huh? I use my real name, first initial + last name. I sign with my first name. Therefore, since I am using my real name, the law doesn't apply to me, apparently even if I annoy someone. No idea what you are talking about...

However, YOU are annoying me right now, and I very much doubt your given name is Zoiker. I guess it's time to start making some phone calls, filling out some complaint forms. Twisted Evil

As to the second part...leave my personal life out of this thread. Laughing

You know something? Neither do I. Don't know what I was thinking, but I sure read that wrong.

Yeah, that happens a lot. Just ask my wife! Smile And you're right, she calls me lots of things...none of which are Zoiker.

Now what fun would that be? OK, OK, we'll stick to gaming. And apologies if I really did annoy you, but after reading your posts on here I reckon you save your annoying for real boneheads. Oh, wait a minute...

Have a good one.

Confused, but not annoyed. The second paragraph was supposed to be a joke. Rolling Eyes

I have had my moments too, and in retrospect I might have <ahem> changed some wording in some threads in the past. Embarassed As to this supposed law, I'd never go after anyone here for annoying me. I can dish it out just as well as the other guy, and this forum is very well policed.

I hope the law was meant as a last resort option, from slander or stalkers, or something like that...I'm sure it won't be used that way. So sad.

as a law that language is next to meaningless

By the time you realize how steep the curve is, you will be using five types of calculus to get to the market. You will then need three different calculators to perform what you once considered basic arithmetic.
