Hi everybody,
We will start play as soon as I have VML-mod v1.1 ready (do also check the VML-lounge on this forum). I estimate mid or late February (March 1st the latest). You will be able to download the updated VML-mod .exe from my page in time.
We have about a dozen confirmed players already, so I just have 4 slots open. If 7 or more additional players want to join, I'll host two games with the same conditions:
Medium, normal, tech (**poll**: slow or std), accbbs, clumping. Expect about 50% Ger conc on the HWs (to end rumors about somebody tailoring conditions for his eco model). No pre-game alliances, no cheap starbase cheat. Chaff allowed, SS popsteal (**poll**: allowed or not allowed). Host will play.
Skill level: special (see below).
No player to control more than one race at a time without informing all participants about (+ host has to agree). Winner by common consensus. From turn 100, there'll be a galactic council every 20 turns (2500, 2520, ...). One HW, one vote. The player getting more than 66.67% of the votes is the winner. An alliance can only win, if they agree on one player to vote for (and he meets the majority). If all players (left) agree on one player at any time (after 2450), the game ends at that point. Game result to be published on RGCS.
Shedule: Mo-Fr (5 a week). For the 1st turn, I'll wait until everybody has submitted to assure all can get their turns in. Afterwards we will have a fixed generation deadline that will only be extended if the host regards it necessary. Until 2420, I'll generate 2 turns every time to get things going. So you will want to give orders for 2 turns until 2420.
Concerning skill levels, I'll not be as strict as usual: if you can get 25k 2450 in a testbed and have played 3 or more Stars! pbem games, you should be fine. I'd just like to sort out the newbies/beginners, because I believe one has to understand the basics of standard Stars! pbem games, to be able to give a feedback about the mod.
Players that drop out are expected to either find a replacement in time or supply the host with their password, in order to enable him to find a replacement or "initiate a revolt".
I'd like to have every PRT in the game, to ensure the mod works correctly. Therefore I'd like to ask for a reply from you that you a) still want to play b) prefer PRT #1 / #2 / #3. You'll get a reply containing your PRT 1 week before we start, in order to allow some time for race design. When the game starts, you'll recieve a list with players e-mail adresses and PRTs listed to avoid advantages for the playing host.
If you should apply for the game, please do also answer the polls: std or slowtech, popsteal allowed or forbidden. Don't hesitate to mail me if you have Qs.
Join the fun, keep Stars! alive!

Uuuups, I hit the wrong button: pressing TAB seems to post the msg, but I wasn't done yet.
Ok, concerning PRT distribution, the above basically means that I will assign:
- each PRT once (10)
- one additional of SS, IS, Joat and AR (4)
- two additional of IT (2)
It wasn't easy to decide which PRT would be choosen 3 times, but since IT was the most desired and since we'll play in a large, that seems justified. VML tries to reduce ITs powers a lot, will be interesting to see if that works as I planned. If it doesn't, then there will be 3 valuable allies available.
I guess that should be ok with everybody, just mail me or post here if you think you have a better idea.
Other than that, you'll recieve your PRT sunday evening GMT the latest. After that, I'll allow 10 days for race design and testing. I'll try my best to assign everybody 1 of their 3 preferred PRTs. If I don't manage to do that for everybody, you'll recieve a seperate msg.
