Great! We have got all 6 players. So.. At the moment I'm too busy to write a long post, sorry, but I'll tell the final and complete game status as soon as possible. I plan to send the game files before week-end.

Sorry guys for making you wait for so long time, had heaps of work to do before Christmas. And Merry Christmas to you all (better late than never Smile.

I've sent game files to authost recently. We start when I hear from Ron that game is ready on autohost.

Final game settings:

Name: Once upon a time in a galaxy Smile
( Files are named "once.*" )

small/normal/distant player positions
abbs, galaxy clumping

no cheats allowed except for chaff and fleet dodge.

maximum 2 players per alliance. Victory is determined by voting. Only one alliance of two players can be declared victorious (then they should get married, Smile joke).

Generation schedule: 48h until 2420, 72h further on.
We can also discuss wheather to generate turns on week-ends and holidays. What about New Year's holidays? Does anybody have any wishes about turn generation at that time?

If I forgot something, let me know.

Best regards,

Pavel.

I'm sorry to say so at the very beginning, but I will be unavailable between 3rd and 7th January. I hope the rest of players will understand. My proposition is to make one or two extra generations before or after that period. Beside this I'm 100% available until July probably Wink

I'm glad it's starting! Smile

As for me, I have a holiday from 31 Dec till 9 Jan and I will probably be out of internet access for that period. So for me it is a good idea to stop force turn generation at that time. As to the extra generations, I think it would be better to leave it as is. We can make things go faster just by submitting turns beforehand. Smile

Why is this set up taking so much time? Ron is on a vacation or that's normal?

At present moment I've got an automatic reply from him, saying that he received the files and will launch the game on autohost as soon as he has time for it.

it's normal. it's Christmas, New Year, e.g "holidays" Wink Ron has RL, just like we all do. he is running this whole site for _years_ at no pay. imho, this is pretty much the only Stars! site left, where u can still find games and people. so let's have a little respect and give the host time to spend with his family. Smile

(Ron, plz don't take it as asslicking... Wink afaik i'm just telling the facts. Wink )

Since the game hasn't started yet, I will try my luck. We are two new Stars players who have never played against other players. We've been playing a game together for a month, but would love the opportunity to join a newbie game and the schedule is fine with us.

Are you willing/agreable to expanding the game to fit in two newbies?

Yves.

As I don't organize / host this game, I will not give you answer to your question, sorry. Anyway, you may check out "No Frills III" game announced also in this part of the forum (should be somewhere on top Smile ). There is about 10 players already, and any more are welcome. If you are affraid about player's skill levels, note that there are users with very few posts.

Well, actually the game may be considered started, for the files has been sent to Autohost already. Taking two more players means changing rules and therefore race designs I suspect. So, I have to say no for now. But.. I've a friend of mine who didn't participate the game but is willing to start playing stars. I suggest a small comfort game 2 by 2 players. Schedule should be very forgiving (we should discuss it) and I think the game can be hosted without autohost. Tell me what you think about this. You'd better answer me to saguaro(at)inbox.ru so that we don't create an offtopic post here. Smile

Best regards,

Pavel.
