If you want a certain spirit of game, useful to say before it starts.

Heh, I guess that's true ... be as clear as possible. <sigh> I hate stating the obvious though, and owning 8 HWs as a VC seemed pretty clear to me ... I'm reading: "you need to own half the worlds out there! You're going to have to fight about everyone, in best case only TWO players can reach the VCs. So do NOT make too many friends, make sure you can easily turn someone into an enemy ..." IMHO the VC made clear what the game was aiming at ...

And as a + intermediate player you _know_ how tricky relations can get, and how easy, how very very easy you'll end up in a big alliance/NAP and can't find anyone to fight ... I had no problem with that ingame, plenty of enemies! Laughing

Fighting WMs with DNs on crowded battlefields, IMO the only option was the Big Mutha Cannon. First Shot was most important, and the DNs simply couldn't be beaten in initiative. That's my main reason for researching in the later parts of the game.

I wonder why nobody tried to take out WMs earlier. When they got DNs Shocked they become too powerfull to fight them with a similar economy 2 Guns Dead .
Too much diplomacy sometimes fires back. Wink

Oh, I tried to... but the Vux have been very strong, it would have been quite a gamble. And then some diplomatic complications kicked in...

Email address for the neutral party: derby /at/ csh /dot/ rit /dot/ edu (replace the obvious, or PM me for decoding Smile )

Please send your race file WITHOUT password, this will make the setup much smoother. You can tell Eric what you want as PW or he'll pick one for you.

Any chance of a TWW3 with a 36 hour gen time for those of us who can't do 5pw? Smile

Let's see, 36 hr gen is still 4.66 gens per week.
At 15 minutes per turn (tiny, no diplomacy) you would save 5 minutes a week !

Or did you mean 56 hr gen ? (3 gens per week)

Well, I found it amusing anyway.

36 hr gen. I find that 5 turns spread though the week i can manage, but on fixed schedule, i always end up missing turns. i guess difference between spreading through week vs 5 days in a row + 2 days break.

Yeah, I know. And when you do play 5 + 2, the 2 days is actually 3 days without a turn.

The old...

Was always a goal and made clear as such to others. As honourable warmonger, we are friendly even with enemies when possible, and was attempting to give other players a situation where we all had a chance.

80+ turns already, next TWW game already mentioned and myself real life busy didn't help.

And the new...

If you need someone to fill in a remaining spot to complete the 8 I can. I have had a race design kicking around for a while. Though if someone else is eager to join, then give them priority, and I instead look at perhaps hosting a game (never done that yet), perhaps "Master of Orion" type with victory goal to wipe out the hostile to everyone OWW host (me).

I might be interested in a game that would start at 5/week, then slow down to 3/week (say M,W,F) then it takes more than 5 minutes to do a turn. But it will be at least a month before I have time to think about a race design.

With RL, there are many days when I do not even read my personal email...

On a somewhat related note... I (Germs) have not had time for RL reasons to write my final game story. Would people still be interested in reading that? Post here? Or send to players from TWW?

Yes, the recap of the old game likely can be split if moderators have time.

Smile I have time for that but will do when I lock this thread. As long as this thread is open there might be people posting more view of the TWW game and once split the forum does not offer the possiblity to merge topics again ... Sad

Hi

I know this is late, but I wonder if there is still room for me.

I hate MM and dislike complex diplomacy, so this is definately the game for me.

I can send you a race-file within 36 hours if you must have it so soon. Preferably, I would send it in a few days, so I can test it a bit first.

At this point I have race files from:

Mushroom
Iztok
Digthinker
Warchild
Stuart
Andreas

When you send a race file, please send me your RL name (first will do) and your AH Forum name. When I post here I will use your Forum name.

Related to Generating the Universe... my original plan had been to do this during the 'holiday' weekend here, which is actually September 3,4,5. But it turns out that I may have time this weekend if I get the last race files. And from the messages, it looks like everyone thinks that it is this weekend.

So as long as I get the last two files this weekend, then I can try to get it done this weekend. In case I run into problems, I can work on it the following (holiday) weekend.

Sure.

I would say: you can't tell anything that helps someone else, things that go against no-cooperation, next to sharing ship designs that you already mentioned that would be things like fleet strength, planet statics, locations of cloaked fleets ... Anyway you get the picture: you're on your own in this one, everybody is after you! (yes, I do mean you Razz )

Heh ... I've been that road before regarding another game I hosted with "all enemy", so in an attempt to anticipate: sharing info with somebody hurts indeed in fact another enemy Smile still that's not the kind of agression that's allowed. Wink

You can not manipulate the "attack who" to get some sort of friendly relation with another race. Shame (mazda was so right about spelling everything out! Grin )

You can however set your battle plan to "attack nobody" if for instance you have a cloaked fleet that you want to sneak in undetected (without sweeping).

I have every I need to start now.

I have not generated a good universe. I have one that looked SO nice with all the planets around the outside.... except one in the middle far away from everything else...

I will do a little work on it each day this week. I will post when there is anything to say.

Thanks for doing this for us Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

I'm quite curious, what is your definition of a 'good' universe?

If you are just looking to place the HW stars correctly I can point you to some great tools for relocating worlds that would save you a lot of time. If you use a seed when generating the universe you can then rearrange the race order in the setup file so the HW stars pair up correctly on the x-axis; generate the game again; then use a tool to remap the locations on the y-axis.

If you do it like this I don't think you need to generate more than one universe, or am I missing something...?

my 2 cents Very Happy
