Also worth bearing in mind that the "Chicken" orders that come in the box, aren't as chicken as one might want...

...unarmed ships on standard Chicken orders, if unmodified, do tend to hang about waving their extremeties at attacking ships, and generally doing their best to attract unwanted attention... Wink

Cool

At the start of each new game I always delete all battle orders and make a copy of the default that I use as default. (None of my ships will have the real default orders so I can change those when I need newly build ships have special orders in the same turn they are build ...)

And then I make all the orders I'm going to normally need.

As for chicken orders:
prim = none/disengage
sec = none/disengage
tactic = disengage
who = nobody

Just in case ... Grin

BTW when you have bombers don't give them these orders when they are alone in orbit of an enemy planet ... they won't bomb. Wink

I agree with Micha.
That is exactly the updated Chicken orders I use.

The one that comes "in the box" is more Kentucky Fried Chicken than proper Chicken... Otherwise known as the "Look At Me! I'm an Unarmed Tasty Treat!" order.

Prim = Any
Sec = None/Disengage
Tactic = Disengage
Who = Neutrals & Enemies

Bear in mind, however, that these standard orders are very useful for getting some really good photos of big armed ships firing towards the camera.

Cool

The vanilla "Chicken" order is fun for shooting 2 rounds of missiles and to be out of battle at third. AMP nubs never reach one who does it. Wink Right ... "Chicken" is wrong name ... but it does not make the behaviour less fun. Nod

That wasnot question anyway. The original question was about orders that snipe AND disengage. There are no such thing as far i know.

On a related topic (and as Kotk has pointed out, we are already onto related topics.. Wink ) ... why do lone ships on *proper* chicken orders sometimes disengage after 3 turns, and sometimes disengage after 7..?

I can't work that one out! Sad

If I understand question right...

I believe you have 7.5 moves before disengage. If your ship speed is battle speed 2.5 that means enemy only has 2 turns to get shot in because 3'rd turn your gone (disengaged).

If you are battle speed 1 then you are gone on turn 8 which means he has 7 turns to intercept.

If however you have large freighters that normally has battle speed 1.25, but slowed down to 0.5 battlespeed due to pop on board then even an old junk x-ray laser man-jet destroyer may kill your fleet as he has 14 turns to work with. (Such a destroyer is happy to risk warp 10 for a chance) Twisted Evil

Two more of my favourite battle plans:

any/any/disengage makes you disengage AND fire back
(used for long range missile boats to shoot at fast beamers
without chaff in range)

none/none/maxdamage makes your chaff stay where it is and be out of range of move2.25 range3 beams in first turn.

just in case...

Robert
