What is the whole idea with "Watcher" races anyways? I know in Newbie Challenge I, I saw a Watcher scout running around, but now she has set herself to "inactive". Is it just to get an idea of peoples' positions and empire sizes before the real fighting begins?

The Watcher race is there to observe. We are neutral and will try to stay out of the way. We can see your ship designs and give advice (if you want). You can send ingame messages to us with any stupid #Stars! question you encounter while playing your turn. If we don't know the answer, we will try to find out for you. 
The Watchers are on inactive while I go on a little vacation. I'll go back to turning in once I'm back.
