OK - lets keep this simple:...

I'm NOT arguing about minerals disappearing. Sometimes one'd want them to disappear. I'm arguing about minerals disappearing with STANDARD UNLOAD ORDER. Miss a planet as an endpoint of the freighter and you lose all minerals. Don't you think there should be a specific "Disperse/destroy cargo" order instead of that?

Too many times I've lost my cargo this way. Last time it was 34000kT of iron and 2000kT germ, just because I've noticed my freighters could be intercepted, and had changed their straight path to a curved one through my minefields... Sad

My recipie to avoid this is I (almost) stopped giving unload orders for one-way trips. Makes me saving one point-and-click for unloading too.
BR, Iztok

(IIRC cargo is entirely put into the salvage, not just a part of it)

I remembered wrong, 75% of the cargo goes into salvage, the rest is gone,

Ptolemy, if you had a teleporter that could somehow atomize your minerals(I think that may take a while), I would certainly have a teleporter that could take them all back. Unless, of course, your teleporter could give each atom a VERY high velocity. But even mass drivers can only send one packet a year. But, hey, maybe all cargo ships are equipped with something far superior to a mass driver.

I agree that minerals should not vanish. To the victor belong the spoils.
