This looks like a software-development project to me Confused

Could you consider to just try and copy the old game until there is new code with less bugs than the old had, before planet-names, race-balancing, automated MM and such are considered?

(just a "keep up the good-work" from a sideliner)

Despite the general belief, it is possible to compare apples and oranges.

That is the objective, as we've stated. The coders are trying to make things flexible enough to facilitate later balancing and changes easily however. Race balancing is something that can largely be done with editing the config files - unless a new behavior is desired - and therefore is something that is orthogonal to the bugginess of the codebase. Automated MM will probably be worked on later - *after* the server is functional. And is a client problem in any case, not a server problem. We're setting aside the new ideas that require substantial balance changes until after Freestars is playable and (hopefully) balanced and reasonably bug-free.
