Dead Empires
------------

A new contrived game for Beginner to Expert Stars! Players...

Game Description:
This game is a contrived scenario, starting in the year 2500.
The player races are 8 identical prepackaged JOATs.
Players of any experience are welcome to play, although I do want to weight it towards the inexperienced end of the scale, in order to balance things up.
Turn gens times will be set to a maximum of 48hrs, but this is open to debate at any time.

Universe Description:

Large, Dense, Farther.

Accelerated BBS Start, Galaxy Clumping, Random Events
PPS - *special rules*

Normal Cheats Disclaimer Active!

Victory Conditions - *special*

Summary:
8 Players Needed.
To apply, post here, PM, or e-mail.
There is a M$ Word document available for interested parties to peruse upon request, containing background material, etc.

Let's just say it's a twist on a theme... Twisted Evil
It's like a big galactic archeological dig! (with guns) Very Happy

Donjon has looked through all the background material etc. and has kindly agreed to look in occasionally, and make sure that I'm doing my job properly... Cool

I've probably missed something crucial out - please feel free to ask questions, poke fun at me, etc.

Unless you're going to move the original HWs, I'd strongly advise taking "distant" starting positions. "Farther" apparently gives rather skewed distances - as do the other alternatives...

Unless I'm mistaken, this problem arises in medium or smaller universes?

I've heard of dodgy starting distances occurring when there are PP or IT races involved... due to the Two Homeworlds thingy.

As for this game, I've done a lot of work on the previous 100 years of gameplay to set up the scenario.

It's all ok. Really. Honest! Wink

I've never heard of it being restricted to certain universe-sizes. But I don't have a problem with believing Donjon...

I stand corrected.

And if I understand Storm's reply properly, the point is moot anyway, due to the special setup of the game.

REPLACEMENT PLAYER(S) NEEDED!

Due to an unexpected move to a cold unfriendly country, one of the "definite" players for Dead Empires has relinquished his place on the waiting list.

This leaves me currently needing FOUR more players to start the game.

Can all the people that I mailed the background documents to please get in touch with a yay or nay?

Well, it looks like you might get the players anyway, but can I make one suggestion? You should have post the game setup/rules to the board rather than having it as a Microsoft Word document - that way it is accessible to someone without MS Word (or who won't open MS Word documents from untrusted sources because of security risks).

As it is, I guess I'll never know whether I would have been interested in this game or not.

Well yes, I agree.

This is the first game I've advertised here, and we're all susceptible to a miscalculation now and then.

On the other hand, sticking all that bumph along with the information in the original posting, might have been a little too much to chew through.

The info in the M$ Word document can easily be transferred to another format if requested. No problem there. txt, rtf, whatever you like! Wink

I'm desperate for this last player position to be filled.
If needs be, I'll translate it into ancient greek, and daub it on the side of the Town Hall in my own blood.... Confused

I agree with Madman in the format issue. But the host might have good reasons to keep details out of the public eye. I'd suggest txt or good ole' HTML for the file. It would even "weigh" a lot less when sent in a PM.

Of course, me also thinks dropouts (even before game start!) should be quartered and BBQed *before* allowed to die... Twisted Evil But then, I love wargames, so... Very Happy
