Warped Engines
In memory of Warp Fader the inventor of the famous hype-drive transit systems, we declare a Galactic Speed holiday. No speed limits in the galaxy during the holiday season. Enjoy the fast arrivals while you can!
NOT! As the first plague slips quickly away. BLOOM! a second rushes in like an angry river, or should I say a leaky faucet? "Slow down you move too fast, got to make the morning last..."
You think cheap engines are tough? You should be so lucky!
Some sort of electromagnetic bug has affected all engines.
Warning, all ships best not exceed warp 5, engines could stumble or they could possibly cause undesirable road blocks in space. Some have been known to explode. I don't know which is worse, hitting an SD mine or hitting a warp 5 engine at warp 10. Are there any blonde humanoid female pilots out there that could verify this?
Our engineers think its a bad batch of ferrite beads in the cram induction system of the drive servo control modules causing this problem, but they aren't sure. They never are. Dinglebug infections I think. Not the engines, the engineers.
You could also try replacing the Promethium-147 cells with Promethium-145 cells and improve performance by 2.731%. I believe most StarCo service stations carry these. The nearest stations are about 62400 ly away though. Let's see, at warp 5 that would be... Well, you may not get there in time but your grandchildren will benefit much from the journey. They'll get back just in time to report the good news to your great great grandchildren...
Wait a minute... That's not right... (Sniff Sniff) Okay!!! Who or what's been smoking Dinglebug droppings in my office again? Dinglebug drops. Whew! That's some nasty crap! You smoke it long enough and you'll be so full of crap your eyes will turn brown.
I dunno, you may just have to ride it out. What do you think?
If I can be of further assistance, don't bother to ask me, because I don't know anything else.
Keep on truckin' trekkies, and don't drink and derive, it makes for bad results on your battle reports.
Cpt.Nasty,
the Plague Master
Think positive:
One thing about starting last: you're the first one to get there.

2413 update
Relatively quiet year.
Three scouts caught speeding and delayed.
One different race did not get flight plans in for approval in time to activate missions.
Yawn

2414 update
Another year.
Two scouts caught speeding and delayed by traffic patrol. They just don't learn, do they?
Another race did not get flight plans in for approval in time to activate missions. Although they made a late minute effort just not in time. The plague don't wait if you hesitate.
These speed violations are getting to be a waste of tax-payer money though. Perhaps a need for increased punishment is necessary? We shall see what we shall see.
Nasty,
the Plague Master
