Hi!

I'm currently working on a Stars! like Open Source game. We are making
slow progress (having been around 2-3 years now ). If you look at
the screenshots you'll notice the Stars! inspiration. We even have a
simple playable game.

You can find us at http://www.thousandparsec.net/tp/ we could really
use some more people to do everything from coding, graphics to just
playing the game and hanging out. Come and check us out!

Lot of people reinvent the same wheel. If your progress is so slow ... maybe you join to the freestars team? Their progress is also quite slow, but i for example like that idea better. Very Happy

FreeStars project is specificly for cloning Stars!. We are trying to create a more generic engine which allows you to clone Stars! or VGA Planets or make up your own Star Trek based game.

We seem to be furthur along then the FreeStar project (if the website are anything to go by?). Maybe they should join with us Wink

There's also the Real4X and Stellar Legacy projects that I am aware of.

You guys should definately be talking to each other on a regular basis, and maybe even sharing some code.

Outer Space project

Both which seem to have active and thriving communities. I'm friends with the main developer of the Outer Space project and we regularly trade ideas.

I'm hoping one day to get around to creating my "InterGalatic Internet" (igi.cc) to try and get more cross pollination between these communities. Plus give a place to share common news (possible forums) and other similar things. I would welcome any help in that deparment too.
