Otherwise, you could play with retreat orders. If they are fast enough, they will retreat 2 spaces and hit enemy beamers the first round, instead of the chaff. Works well with the Omegas, too.

Good luck

By "retreat" orders, you mean "Minimize Damage to Self"? There is no "retreat" order, unless I'm deeply mistaken. "Withdraw" orders causes armed ships to not fire, which is rather distressing.

Yes and no. My bad. Disengage = retreat. Disengage is a valid "tactic" order. This is different then using "none/Disengage" for your primary target.

No, ships using disengage as a "tactic" will fire at enemy ships if so ordered. Test before using, the battle engine reacts strangely in some circumstances.

Try again: "any/any/disengage" should have your ships hugging the far wall and the enemy's chasing. Not useful against Starbases, but often your fragile missile boats get to flee before the enemies that are going to kill them can actually harm them, and *after* having shot twice or three times said pursuers. Twisted Evil

It is not the same as the canned "chicken" battleorders, mind. You must edit this nastie into your toolbox by yourself. And of course testbed it for every ship design you intend to make use of it. Rolling Eyes

Ok, I haven't yet tested it (but I will). I just don't understand why the standard "Chicken" (Any/None/Disengage) would fail to fire but (Any/Any/Disengage) would fire. I mean one "any" should be as good as two "any"'s Confused

I *think* I once tried (Armed Ships/Any/Disengage) and it didn't fire. Mad
