Speaking as a lurker who is interested in this game.
It would be good if Ettane posted what they had worked out about IRC in the same way that Leit posted what they had worked out about EAC.
Of course you may not want your opponent to know, what you know about them. If this is the case you can lie a little about what you know.

Anyway Id just like to know more about whats happening, if you know what I mean. Razz

We're keeping a fair bit back actually, because we don't know what they know we know. And yeah, it'd be nice if it was tournament style (we see our own turns, everybody else sees everybodys turns) - but of course there are issues with worrying about information transfer to the other team since the internet is anything but a controlled environment. Score ranks: Team IRC 1st through 8th, EAC 9th through 16th (EAC may have one or more races tied for 8th place, but they can figure out that we have 1st through 8th).

I know that score is not a clear indicator of who is winning, and probably less of an indicator of who is going to win, but this much of a lead is going to be difficult to reverse.

Heh, we were talking about that just this morning. I've never put much faith in telling anything by score before turn 30 (except for race types and such), and even then it still has very little predictive ability until turn 40 or so. Oh well, we'll see what things look like in 15 years or so (again, assuming we are still alive...) Smile

The post-mortem is going to be rather entertaining I suspect. Simply detailing all the coordination and preparation we went through/are going through will be a lengthy task - and I'll be curious to see what you guys are doing to aid coordination. Smile

Finally found some time to clean up this thread, it sure was getting a mess! Smile

Several messages split off to different topics, perhaps not a very clean cut but the forum software has his limits ...

** -f / QS / HP in teams: holds the latest discussion about team race design theory

** HE PRT war: "HE is the best!" "It's not!" "It is!" etc.

2431: The first big battle.

Two years ago team EAC launched a colonization fleet to a world south of 2000 (the halfway point) escorted by 30 DDs (22 Xray DDs in two stacks, and 8 alpha DDs, all unshielded). We were able to det a mine field on them, and kill the colonizer and most of the cargo ships, and damaged all the DDs, that allowed us enough time to get 4 Jihad Cruisers there.

In case it's not obvious, 30 damaged unshielded DDs didn't stand a chance against the cruisers.

In other news we lost 5 bazooka DDs to a fully shielded Yak fort.

2334 Team IRC Liberates Team EAC Occupied World

In 2434, Team IRC successfully helped natives of the planet Hiho overthrow their EAC Occupiers.

The natives were so grateful to Team IRC that they wholeheartedly put their support behind Team IRC.

The planet Hiho is north of 2000, less than 50ly from the EAC starting border.

In unrelated news, the price of bananas in Team EAC worlds has sky rocketed.

2435 - Jillas fleet goes on drunken joyride to the Flood owned planet Denon, backs cruisers into the dock Frank Mahovolich, completely destroying it. Injuries due to falling debris were reported on Denon. It is unknown if the Frank Mahovolich was insured. Bakuhatsu spokesmonkey Curious George read from a prepared statement indicating that, "Oook ook ook OOK eek eek yeek!"

No Jillas spokespersons were available for comment citing a "brutal hangover."

Here is a map:
http://dragons.falldowngoboom.org/EACVSIRC35.gif

The top white line is 2150, the furthest south team EAC could place worlds.
The bottom white line is 1850, the furthest north team IRC could place worlds.
The middle white line is 2000, half of the galaxy.
The red line is the current border. The line is drawn to show worlds under control, not regions of space. Denon (far west in the neutral zone) is inhabited by the Flood (a Team EAC race) but is being bombed, and has Jihad cruisers in orbit.

Slime (EAC) was slimed (packeted), Rye (EAC) taken last turn, Oxygen's (EAC) fort + small group of sweepers destroyed, and a group of 10 interceptors was jumped by 4 IRC CGs. Plus the usual skirmishing. Smile Minelaying activity has jumped up considerably in the east, and currently TeamIRC planets Fluffy and Narnia are being swarmed by minelayers (help! This cheese has bite!).

With advances in EAC minelaying tech (standard 80's, speed bump 30's, heavy 50's) old style Damu Brass (yak) and Bram Fang (xray) destroyers are being phased out in favor of Dynast Brass (colloidal) destroyers. EAC thus far has continued using minigun and xray destroyers and frigates for intercepting and sweeping work.

The IRC assault force consists of colloidal battlecruisers covering jihad cruisers and m80 minibombers.

IRC holds score positions 1-4 and 6-9 with EAC at 5 and 10-16.

If someone has time, would be interesting to see exact ship designs favoured by each side that have been in battles (thus intel known by all).

To me sounds like even game with the likely later game powers EAC buying their time till the eccons kick in. (Later game powers I have played/seen tend to kick in around 2450)

IRC will always have the PRT special abillities advantage.

As we are now at turn 40, I've slowed the server down to Mon/Wed/Fri generates.

PS: So far our plan of throwing wave after wave of our own men at them until they hit their preset kill limit and shut down seems to be working. At least, the first part is. We are still waiting for them to shut down or run out of ammo, but we have high hopes it will happen soon. I mean, they can't have an infinite number of missiles, can they? Either way, we still have plenty more men to throw at them. Isn't that right men!?

I've been meaning to answer this before. Here are some of the designs (Note that CA means Cruiser):

Team EAC
"I'll never need another ship"
FF, DDL7, 2 Croby, 3 mini-guns
Bzzzzzzt!
FF, DDL7, 2 Croby, 3 Pulsed sappers
eel I
FF, DDL7, 2 Croby, 3 mini-guns, Rhino scanner
anenome export
FF, DDL7, 2 Croby, 3 jets, 2 Ferret scanners (speed 2, 220/59 scan)
Flame On
CA, FM, 4 comps, 4 jihads, 2 cow shields
I would guess that they have a comparable beamer CA as well.
scout with blue laser and QJ5 for chaff

Team IRC:
Dynast Brass
DD, FM, jet, 2 organic, 1 wolverine, 2 colloidals
Dolph Zoke
FF, DDL7, 2 Croby, 3 jets, 2 Dolphin scanners (speed 2, 261/118 scan)
Valubazard Flare
CA, FM, 4 comps, 4 jihads, 2 wolverine shields
Flare Arrow
BC, FM, 4 jets, 9 colloidals, 4 wolverine shields

Both teams have lots of other ships including a few runs of DDs on both sides for skirmishing work, MMLs, and various support ships.

Here is an updated map for 2445:
http://dragons.falldowngoboom.org/EACVSIRC45.gif

Sweeping in the Fluffy area has reduced the pressure there.
We bombed Steeple (in the east) but had to flee.
Barry and Chaos are inhabited by team EAC, but both are very low populations (after being bombed), and we control both orbits.
We control Clay, they control the other worlds in that area. They almost retook Clay last turn, but their chaff sweeping failed to get all of the mine field, and the hit killed 280 of their chaff, and the follow-up det killed the cruisers (already heavily damaged from overgating). If they sent everything they had they lost 38 FlameOn Jihad Cruisers, 400 chaff, and an SFX or 3 - note that at this point chaff isn't cheap.

Also, score wise, they have some one in 5th place, and have for a while now. We have all the other ranks from 1st through 9th.

Here are the old maps:
http://dragons.falldowngoboom.org/EACVSIRC40.gif
http://dragons.falldowngoboom.org/EACVSIRC35.gif

The top white line is 2150, the furthest south team EAC could place worlds.

Here is the 2450 map:
http://dragons.falldowngoboom.org/EACVSIRC50.gif

The blue lines indicate 'no-mans-land'. This is area where we've removed EAC control, but have not yet established full IRC control. Rockette is still occupied by EAC, but it's a small colony, the rest of the worlds in no-mans-land are unoccupied. (We can't take credit for all of it, AFAIK, Bilbo was never colonized, and Chaos was packeted by EAC from Waco - while owned by a team EAC race)

In 2450 IRC attacked Waco and lost a fleet of 10 Flare Arrow (Beamer BCs), 15 Valubazard Flares (Jihad Cruisers), and 38 m80 mini bombers at Waco, they managed to kill 3 Jihad Cruisers, a fully armed base (48 bazookas, 16 sappers, 48 bear shields 16 c12 armors, 300/500 gate, w7 driver), and 43 'I'll never need another ship' (mini-gun FFs).

Score ranks: Team IRC is in positions 1-7 and 9, two turns ago this was 1-4 and 6-9. In 2451, it's back to 1-4 and 6-9. I think this means that their top race is very close to our 5th, 6th, and 7th races, and we'll probably see some movement between the 4 races for a while. I'm pretty sure their top score is at the 25k by 2450 mark. I have no recent data about the scores of the rest of their team.

This is a map for 2450, it's now 2451, and team IRC has made some progress, we've bombed Steeple out, started on Genisis, and have taken Decatur.

Team IRC have 2 BBs that have seen battle:
Icicle Lance: BB, p9 ram, 4 w15 sappers, 16 HBs, 6 caps, 8 bears, and a jet.
Elmekia Lance: BB, p12 ram, 4 w15 sappers, 16 HBs, 6 caps, 8 bears, and an overthruster.
