Advice required -Cloaking Nubians.
Ok I am a Super Stealth, we have just reached the Nubian Era and I was about to start rolling out Nubians. I intended to put 3 ultra cloaks on both my beamers and missile Nubians making them both comfortably 98% cloaked.
However I have just read peoples advice on not cloaking BBs (which I didnt - too few electric slots) and using overcloakers.
So I am wondering; Should I cloak my Nubians?
I dont really have a spare slot for an overcloaker but I have Stealth Bombers.

The main intention in making an overcloaker is ensuring the mass of the ship is high, so it can overcloak other ships of similar mass.

Using a Stealth Bomber hull,
You have 4 electrical slots which loaded with ultra-cloak will give you 98% cloaking (+1).

The big problem is the mass of the ship, in a normal overcloaker, the mass is increased by using layers of the most massive(effective) armour... but with a Stealth Bomber you cannot place armour. But you can place bombs of course Wink

The most massive dirty bomb is M-80 at 55Kt, the most massive neutron bomb is the Enriched Neutron Bomb at 64 Kt.

The most massive engine is either the Trans-Galactic Drive or the Interspace-10 at 25Kt.

Using these components you can create an overcloaker with a mass of 616Kt.

Now mixing and matching, you can design a fleet that will be overcloaked at 98%, however; the nature of this fleet will be most likely 2:1 (ratio of bombers to missile ships)... the lighter ships will be able to be overcloaked at a higher ratio (beamers and chaff).

You will note though that you are creating a less effective bomber in order to create an overcloaker... you might wish to consider a utility ship (minelayer) to be your overcloaker.

For example:
Using the galleon, with TGD/IS10 and 4 layer of Tritanium (mass 60), 6 layers of Mine Dispenser 50 (mass 30), 4 layers of Ultra-Steath... you come up with the same effective cloak (98% +1) and a hull with a mass of 665 Kt...

If you redid this schema under a nubian hull you could easily make a nubian hull with a mass over 1000 Kt with minelaying ability and 98% (+3) cloak.

The slot that goes to cloaking doens't make the fighting abilities of your nubs better ... I wouldn't go for it. Your oponents will have it easier to design counters, and you would need to bring more ships to get the same firepower/defense ...

Stealth bombers make good OCs for SS, and if you don't want to (or can't) use a slot for only OCs this is your best option. (They do have max cloak right?)

Check out the SS section, IIRC this has been discussed there before ...
