not really the answer but...
To find out damage done via overgating your best bet is to download the stars! calculator (it's on the AH download page)

Stars calculator tells me that as long as my ships are not to heavy, they will only get x% damage and non lost to void. Yet in my game i lost 50kT ships when distance overgating 100 kT gate. Is starscalc correct with overgating?
