Greetings and Salutations!
I've in the middle of a couple games now on Autohost, and am enjoying the experience! This is great! I'd like to try my hand at hosting a game, now, so here's a game idea for y'all to chew on...
"Fruity Flavors"
In a galaxy far, far away, 10 different races have risen to take their place among the Stars. Each of these races has a deep distrust and distaste for the other races. Since each of these races is so different from each other, conflict is inevitable, and only one race will survive.....
Beginner-Intermediate game
***(if this is your first PBEM game, please let me know!)
Number of players: EXACTLY 10 (see below)
Universe size: Large
Density: Dense
Player Positions: Distant
Accelerated BBS: Yes
Public Scores: No
Standard cheats disallowed
Chaff, Split Fleet permitted (not cheats IMO)
Victory: Last Man Standing (or player vote)
Pregame alliances: Not Allowed
In-game alliances: Limited (see rules)
Gens: 24 hours until 2440, then player vote.
I'm planning on using AutoHost.
Races -
Each of the races will be a DIFFERENT PRT; each PRT will be represented in this game. The only PRT-LRT limitation is that CA cannot take TT.
We will vote prior to the game starting on whether the PRTs will be public at the beginning of the game. (see Host comments)
In-game Rules -
You CANNOT set any other player to friend. (We do NOT play well with others in this universe). This is designed to limit the amounts and types of cooperation that one race can give another. Anything else goes.
Host -
If I get enough interest, and receive 10 different race files quickly enough, I will not play. However, I am planning on taking an "unclaimed" PRT in order to get the game started.
I will have a slight advantage (if I play), as I will know the other players PRTs (unless we vote for public PRTs). IF this is a problem to you, but you're otherwise interested in playing, please let me know. I'm not sure how else to handle the game setup.
If you are interested in playing, you MUST e-mail me at jrbuller (at) juno dot com. Your e-mail must contain the following -
***your name, and/or handle
***e-mail to be used for the game
***your skill level
***your race name
***your PRT
PRTs are FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. Game will begin when all 10 slots are filled (shooting for first of June, depending on response...)
Comments and Suggestions are most welcome!

I'd suggest announcing to everybody what the PRTs are and who's playing them just to keep things fair. And really, it's not too hard to find out someone's PRT unless they're *very* cagey about it (SD, PP, JoAT, IT are about the only ones that can do that - and JoAT you have to work hard at to keep it up - the others, you have to give up your racial bonuses...).

Just a quick update on the game - I still need 2-4 slots filled. I need WM, IS, PP, and HE. I have one player who still has to tell me which PRT, and then I'll take the last one. So we still need two more players, as it stands now.
I suspected that I would end up with HE, which is fine if it happens, there are so many people saying it can't be done in a multiplayer game, it makes me want to try.....
I'm surprised WM is a last pick for this. I expected PP and HE to be hard to fill, but is the perception out there that WM is a weak race? Hmm, VERY interesting....

It CAN be done, but its viability decreases with universe size. Good luck with it in large uni and without allies to help you gating fleets.

Just logicaly. In late game WM's weak. Without minefields to slow down the attacker and with weak planetary defenses WM's planets fall one per turn, each turn. And with 70 planets per player there will be late game.

I would be interested in playing... however, I have a couple of quibbles:
1) Universe size... a large size universe for 10 players makes for a massive amount of MM. (even more if you don't identify a PP)
2) Could this be a ranked game?
[Using logic and previous posts, or a knowledge of me ;-); you can probably identify my PRT.]

Since this is my first "hosting", I wasn't sure about the whole game-ranking thing . I will read up on that and get back with you.
The Large, Dense universe settings were a choice I made for this game, just like the "no-friends" setting. I had a couple reasons for this choice, as a host. As a player, once the game gets started, we'll see what happens.
I have also filled every slot, except for HE, which I am planning on taking. But thanks! If you're interested, I could use a "neutral" third person, just to keep the racefile passwords, so that players don't have to send them to me.
Thanks!
