I have heard it said that FreeStars will be very flexible, and that we will be able to create our own custom version without huge difficulties. Smile But will it be flexible enough for my purposes? Confused2
I would want to add another page to the race wizard- namly, a "super PRT selection," where races chose either AR or normal. They would then get to select a normal PRT in addition- in effect, allowing AR CAs Shocked or AR ITs. Teleport
Yes, I did steal this from super nova, but the question remains: Can it be done? Sherlock

We haven't mapped out all the costs yet (and some of them are annoyingly interrelated), but if you wanted an all AR game with aspects of other races, that would be as easy as adding <UseAlternate>true</UseAlternate> to each PRT in RacialTraits.xml.

I think there flexibility is generally good but then there must be some mechanism that disallows editing of the trait orcomponent properties during game. At least players must get notified.

For a while, I'm just going to count on the hosts being honest. I know that isn't always a safe assumption, but planning for a cheating host is too much of a pain.

Eventually, it'll probably have some CRC or something to identify the file, so any change would get a mismatch. This would be applied to the .xy and the components file at least, probably the racial traits file as well. If the host was planning on modifying them, he could give the players the new files and then things might possibly work. I'm not going to spend any extra time working on getting modifying the files in the middle of a game to work.
