This is an issue for the client and I'm not working on that (yet). However, this is an idea that I would like to see. Basicly allow the player to attach notes to every object, as well as general notes not attached to anything.
I also think the client should have an object for every player, one reason is to attach notes, but the main reason is so you can specifiy the PRT and LRTs. Then when you select a ship, it would show the correct values - well, as correct as your PRT/LRT guesses are at least. The client could update the PRT/LRT selections when it sees something that is clear, like WMs moving fast, or shields bigger then calculated, or PRT/LRT parts on bases. Other things like ships wouldn't be definate, although they do offer suggestions.
Another thing I'd love to see in a client is MM automation: Things like specifing that a planet will hold its population to 300k, and having the rest uploaded to whatever freighters are in orbit. The uploading would be a 'manual' order that the client would enter for you before you look at the turn, either a preprocessor or the client does it on opening the turn for the first time.

The facility for adding notes to planets I will implement - not to fleets though since they change constantly.
I will also add / modify available orders since I too would like to see things that help reduce MM. One item will be revamping the mineral order structure to make it clearer.
I will be working on the battle orders as well since I would like something more akin to a 'Fighting Withdrawl' order as well as better targeting selection (ignore chaff) i.e. Primary target capitol ships - or primary target cruisers.

I think fleets should be able to have notes attached too. If you eliminate the fleet, the notes go away...

I'm not sure what you mean by this, but if you want germanium to load before boranium, that is going to be a host change. I won't be doing that in the first version.

This is clearly a host change, and is also a huge balance issue, I will not be doing this in version 1, and will resist it in future versions as well. I think chaff is great for balance. It allows victories to be clean, which actually helps smaller empires more then big ones. Big ones can afford a bunch of messy victories and then keep on rolling with fresh forces. Smaller empires need several clean victories in rapid succession to allow them to win.

The easiest way would be through the fleet display - for an SD, add the minefields.

Besides, I have enough to do to pretty much duplicate teh existing client before modifying it to create extra features.....
