This would be happening to another computer. Everytime you go to yahoo
groups on that computer a gig of free space is sapped from the hard drive,
we did fix it by turning off flash animations, that worked, for awile, now
its back, were running scandisk in dos (didnt find anything)

I had the same problem on my newest computer, but that was fixed by running scandisk. what the heck is going on?

Run "chkdsk /a" from a command prompt (start->run->cmd->chkdsk /a)

Reduce the size of your cache (IE->tools->options->settings...->"amount of disk space to use")

Run an antivirus scanner. e.g. "http://security.symantec.com/default.asp?productid=symhome&a mp;a mp;a mp;langid=ie&venid=sym"

What operating system are you using? Which version of Internet Explorer?

I work for Microsoft so I can probably help you Laughing Best advice is probably to switch to Linux Laughing

** change: added a switch to chkdsk **

Have you tried re-running Spybot? (and is it up to date?) Rolling Eyes

If it finds anything, make a note of the file/spyware name.

Is it only with Yahoo Groups? Do you know which exact page (somebody might have managed to post up a hostile script Evil or Very Mad )

Immediately after it happens you could run a search on your computer for recently created files and find out where the space is actually going.

You should also consider picking up all the security updates from windowsupdate.microsoft.com - warning: win98 is notoriously fragile when it comes to updates, so try to avoid picking up anything except for security updates. Rolling Eyes

Do you run any antivirus software? (I don't, but then I used to remove viruses for a living... Very Happy )
