yup, and all those little kiddies can up and off to war at the ripe old, age of... 1? Imagine the terror, as IS orgy fleets rain freshly birthed infants down upon their foes Shocked

Again, stretch it out to 10 years and you've got time to turn a newborn into a soldier. I guess I could buy into a 5:1 years ratio, but much closer to 1:1 than that doesn't really make much sense to me, if I want to let the human race fit into the game (which I'm starting to suspect I can't...) Sad

... Fertillity drugs can increase the chances of twins, triplets. Probably possible through drugs and other methods to get mostly female children.
I think such a road goes down closer to a horror/SF type future than one most of us would want to be in...

Mostly young woman Very Happy ? And you call that horror/SF???? Shocked
Ummmm... when I think for the second time you may be right Confused (Yep, I'm already that old Wink ).

Actually, you begin in 2400 with 16 years of developing fodde^H^H^H^H^H children already in the education pipeline. You're just adding a few more on the front-end.

However, that doesn't really explaining the compounding effect well. Perhaps we're seeing a nice abstraction of some increases in productivity as well...

Boils down to just trying to find a justifiable/feasible excuse for why the engine/model behaves the way it does.

And maybe the stars ARE supposed to belong to the Rabbitoids and Icky Things instead of humans anyways. Wink

By todays definition they would be thought of young girls rather than women. By the time they reach 20 they may have had 12+ kids (more than one at a time).

For breeding you likely couldn't have your pick but the government would direct things, like experts do today with fancy breeds of cattle.

For soldiers, it is well known in certain areas of Africa how the young work well. The gang leaders get a young boy to kill his family and then they know he will stay faithfull (can't go back) and armed with 50 year old western nation millitary surplus the boy continues working for the brutal gang without a conscience.

Explaining the growth rate is a big reason why I picked the name "Kittens" for my 20% IS in RWIAB. Cats can breed at the age of 6 months and have 4-7 kittens each. 20% might even be a bit low for cats if they were able to breed freely...

The "Icky Thing" sequence was described once (somewhere) for Center Warz. Simple conveyor belt with three steps and an on-queue and off-queue (all Ickies had a quota for trips through per year.

(1) Fed them.
(2) Big cleaver chopped them in two.
(3) Fed the two half-size Ickies...

Ickies were a 18% IS race that accumulated a massive orbital pop fleet by the end of the game. I probably have my RP-aid race description squirreled away somewhere still as well. (Icky diplomacy usually openned by asking a race if their preferred mode of being consumed was slow roasting or being served over pasta with a nice garlicy white sauce...)

- Kurt

P.S. - The "root" idea for the Ickies are a group of fairly weak monsters in Angband. One of the group was a type that was an "explosive breeder" and would rapidly become a *lot* of Icky Things once you'd annoyed them.
