Here are this week's puzzles. I tried to pick some harder ones
The usual 24hour timelimit applies. Send your answers to me via Private Message. Because these are (I think) harder puzzles, I have only picked 5. Only users getting all 5 puzzles correct will get a chance to become this weeks Puzzle Master.
1. Complete the sequence, and what is the secret?
S P L ?
--- --- --- ---
2 3 5 ?
2. In which of the sentances below does the name of an animal not appear? What animal names did you find in the others?
A. I was suddenly confronted by a group of evil-doers and hardened criminals.
B. Their leader appeared to be a swarthy, well-dressed Latin American wearing thick-rimmed, tinted spectacles.
C. "Who is this?" said a small, squat individual. "I don't trust him, he could be armed."
D. The leader roared with laughter and gesticulated with his bejewelled arm. "Believe me, he is quite harmless," he said. "But escort him the from premises immediately."
E. I walked out into the cold night air with a huge sigh of relief. This time I had avoided the trap easily, but I knew I might not be so lucky next time.
3. What number should replace the question mark and why?
25
? | 84
\ | /

51----------32
/|\

88 | 96
73
4. Which number is the odd one out and why?
3628, 2426, 4146, 1448
5. What number should replace the question mark and why? (these are supposed to look like pentagons)
5 | 9 2 | 5 1 | 4

----------- ----------- -----------
8 / \ 2 7 / \ 6 5 / \ ?
/ 10\ / 4 \ / 6 \
Thread locked until deadline is over.

Here are the answers.
1.
G
---
8
RQ ONM KJIH
S P L G
+1, +2, +3
2. B.
A=doe (evil-doers)
C=bear (be armed)
D=ewe (bejewelled)
E=ape (trap easily)
3. 310
Looking around the circle clockwise:
(2)(5) and (3)(2) = 84
by adding 5 + 3 = 8
2 + 2 = 4
(3)(2) and (7)(3) = 96
by adding 2 + 7 = 9
3 + 3 = 6
(7)(3) and (5)(1) = 88
by adding 3 + 5 = 8
7 + 1 = 8
Therefore: (5)(1) and (2)(5) = 310
by adding 1 + 2 = 3
5 + 5 = 10
4. 4146 In all the others AC=B and B+C=D. For example:
3628
ABCD
5. 2
In each pentagon, A+D=E+B+C
E | A
|
-----------
D / \ B
/ C \

Just a few thoughts for 1 and 2.
1.
G
7
Seems equally valid. I couldn't decide between the two.
2.
A has "was suddenly" in it.
B has "latin American" in it. Backwards admittedly, but still ...
Doe and ewe completely escaped me.
