As a matter of fact pink is perfect to keep the "after images" (if that is the correct Eglish term) to a minimum when you have been staring at your penscan Stars! view for hours and hours.
Like the surgeons wearing green clothing to reduce that "after image" effect when they look away from the pink/red of the inside of a human body ... Smile

Cozy little computer desk, but I couldn't deal with it. There simply is no room for the 117 lbs of clutter I keep on mine.

DESK INVENTORY:
750ml bottle of tequila, facial tissue, toilet paper, five jars of pipe tobacco, pipe, a calculator (which baffles me for anything more complex than simple multiplication - I'm sure the manual is around here, somewheres), a printer manual, two screwdrivers, assorted cassettes and cds, junk mail, retirement account statements, bills, receipts, blank paper, dental floss, potato-chip bag clip, small notebook, a coffee cup, scissors, a bic lighter, a cigar box filled with other pipe paraphanelia (such as cleaners, pipe tools, lighters and matches), two bags of SweetTarts (probably about 4 years old and unopened), a flightstick that I never use, a shot glass, sunglasses, cd case, a wallet (with no cash but lots of credit cards, or so the bills say), a mostly empty can of air-duster, a mostly empty can of lighter fluid, a dirty spoon (from the ice-cream I ate probably 6-7 days ago), fingernail clippers, toenail clippers, some kind of foot-file-thingie, assorted screws (from something I took apart months ago and forgot what they went to), a metal lid (from I don't know what or where it came from), a pencil and two "empty" candy dishes, a dictionary, a thesaurus, a huge and gaudy KISS telephone, two pens, two paycheck stubs, then of course my computer (which is huge, but it only takes up 5% of the space - the rest is "desktop storage space"). Let's see you put all that garbage on your desk and still be able to see your monitor! My monitor is 19", so it stands high enough for me to peek over the top of the pile and still see it. Razz It helps that it's on top of a pedestal (and a circuit switch box). Oh, I almost forgot the desklamp - I can't see it but I know it's there because I can see the glow.

There's not enough room on my desk for all this, either. It falls off of the desk and as I look around the room I can see the clutter beginning to spread to eve

Reading the contents of your desk.. I am somehow inexerably reminded of various old games where the player would magically be housing as much if not MORE crap in his own pockets! I esspecially liked the "metal lid (from I don't know what or where it came from)"

Just sounds SO much like the kind of thing those old "examine" functions would generate when checking out some odd object(s) on the ground.

And you half tempt me to reherse the items on my own desk. Which is actually more of a modified conglomeration of things that have been heavily altered to support much more stuff than they probably should. Complete with a spider web of wires all semi neatly strapped to various parts of said "desk". (I also increased my own desk surface space by 20%, to accomidate my needs, rather than buy anything new, I just non-permanently enhance nearly everything I've already got, more fun I think.)

--Most people terraform the environment to suit their equipment. And those few who can, prefer to terraform their equipment to suit their enviroment.--

I'm the latter. Nearly all the stuff I own or at least use often has been altered in some way to be integrated into my enviroment in creative though sometimes rather unnatural ways.

Guess that kinda explains why I do the same thing in the computer.. And why I write so many nutty utilities for Stars. Smile I'm always terraforming something to try and make it just a little bit more useful or better or fun. Smile

I just love making/modding/enhacing/improving stuff.

Ok.. There Zoid shared a pile of info that sorta tells you what he's like. And I guess I kinda shared a similar pile. Just.. Cause.. Went with Zoid's comments.

(I should probably clean up my dump too. Maybe I should slap together some shelves to put all my stuff? Rolling Eyes Or something.)

On the plus side, I know exactly where everything is at. "It's on my computer desk" (somewhere). "No? okay, try the floor." I'm not even going to talk about the single desk drawer or cabinet. It's just like the top of the desk, but worse, with stuff collected from 1987 forward, and once something goes there, it's history.

Not my desk on the picture (just a gif I found somewhere which I modded), this wouldn't fit my 19" monitor either.
Anyway, my desk is a mess too but every two weeks or so when I get home from work it's very tidy and I CAN'T FIND A FREAKING THING ANYMORE!!!! Sad That's when my wife had another "cleaning attack", ruining my whole cataloging system Grin but in a day or two everything is back how it was ... Smile

An inventory of just the top of my computer table and desk would not be quite as variable - but would still be 100 lbs or so of stuff. Mainly books as it turns out. [My clutter is also limited due to the fact that the cats "plow" a path through it in order to reach the window to look out, or maneuver in order to block my view of the monitor as an attention getting device.

My desk isn't so much cluttered as heavily modified. I've got my computer (which has a harnass on it and travels a lot.) My now imobile laptop, (can't move it, so old, dust gets in it and it takes a half hour to make it boot right!) A calculator, some speakers, 3 mice and several items I stuck together to make the desk longer. Under it I've got some CD racks and several thousand paperclips in small boxes. (not for clipping paper, but for building stuff with.) Some old CD spools some empty CD cases a multi-screwdriver, a little utility fashlight. Various wires and audio stuff hanging from small hooks I made. Plus my "Magic Box" which is kinda like an audio version of a network hub. (Little box with volume nobs I made to link up my 4 sound cards to my 3 sets of speakers so I can use the same speakers to hear any of my "noise making toys". CD player, computers (yes, it's plural).. Radio, what have you..)
And under that I've got a box of assorted tools that I use rather regularly.

That's about it. Oh and a gallon of distilled water that I like to drink from.

I'd say minus the computers it's probably only like 20 lbs of stuff. Very Happy With the computer and the overly heavy 17" monitor, I might be somewhere in the 60s? Maybe?

Shocked Amazing. Wasn't that somewhere around 1996? Even I don't have that video clip anymore. It would have disappeared ten times with all the computer upgrades and hard drive reformats I've done. Any time I've got a computer problem I can't solve, I invariably think "Well, it USED to work fine. Guess I'll just reformat the hard drive and start over!" Any data on my computer has a life expectancy of less than a year, tops.

Laughing That reminds me of a cartoon I saw once, long ago - Some little boy standing in the doorway of his tidy bedroom looking on in dismay and disgust, saying something like "It takes me THREE DAYS to get this room just the way I like it, and then my mom comes in and RUINS the whole thing in half an hour!"

Fasinating... don't think I'll take the time at the moment to catalog what I have just on my home desk, but I'll just say it has a 'fair' amount on it. Rolling Eyes

I also thought it would be about that time, but it turns out to be from 1999! (Octobre 15th to be exact.) The Pure game started end 1998 or early 1999, I'm not sure since I joined as a replacment in early March (game year 2450) ...
Ah! The good old days! That game lasted till 2576! Must have been the only one game I was in that went over 2500 ...

Looking back I can't believe we won with a 3%(6%) 3i HE and a 13% 1 in 2 WM!

(I still have it since I backed all turn files up on a cd, including the video clip and some mails.)

Haha - got a switch now *grin*duck*run*

My desk is one of those huge manager style desks with a full size utility drawer on each side and a full size filing cabinet drawer on each side. On it it has 2 boxen, 17" monitor, mouse, keyboard, 3 calculators (two programmable - one graphical), assorted manuals, assorted lecture notes, two stacks of cd's, printer, scanner, flightstick, organiser (full of floppies, stationery, etc) a half a dozen assorted pens (some even work!) business cards, programming notes, a Honda NS750 model, assorted teddy bears, Kawasaki 750 model, Pittsburgh Penguins supporter paraphernalia (Lets Go Pens!) and a stack of "Thank you" notes which hopefully She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed has posted out today to the guests from our wedding.

Oh - and a notebook with notes from my current duel with Gible.

PapaBear
