Captain Maim ad for a Stars! game based on Star Control 2, got me to thinking about Star Control 2 again.

It's a great game, and I highly recommend it to all of you. It is an adventure / space odyssey game, the graphics and music were very good for its time, a bit dated now, but still not bad, the voices are great. It is a tough game, but not impossible, and still very funny in spots.

You can get a freeware version from http://sc2.sourceforge.net/ The download is a huge 150 meg however. It's an early version, but seems very bug free to me. However it would be a good idea to save often (which is a good idea anyway...)

I bought that game when it first came out years ago. I don't remember much about it now. I do remember a few things...

I remember it was a lot of fun, and I remember I never could figure out how to finish the game. Sad

Looking over my shoulder at the game boxes displayed on my bookshelves, I see it is absent. It must be one of the older games I eventually sold on ebay. Maybe it didn't want to work with Windows XP - that's why I got rid of most of my old games. Funny though - I loved Master of Orion so much I couldn't stand to part with it, even though I can't make it run on Windows XP, and don't even really want to play it anymore, anyways. Laughing

You have no idea how happy I was when I stumbled on this a month or two ago. Played through the entire game again from start to finsh on Windows XP, with all the original sounds and music - what a pleasure!

I would thoroughly recommend it, I played v0.3 and had absolutely no stability issues, didn't crash one. There were one or two typos when the aliens spoke to me, but nothing else.
