-f races only. Non-playing host will verify.
All PRTs eligible. AR qualifies as a -f race.
[-f defined for game terms as cost 25 factory settings, or AR PRT]

JRC3/JRC4 on Autohost

Standard cheat disclaimer. Chaff allowed, split fleet allowed (be
reasonable please folks). All other cheats/abuses are not allowed. [see Stars! FAQ for a sample list]

Prefer intermediate skill level players. Hopefully, those willing to experiment with non-CA -f races as well. A beginner can try a CA if they wish since they "handle" easier. However, be warned that CA tend to draw the attention of alliances.

Generation Schedule: Tue-Sat 3AM GMT (M-F 10PM US EST)

# of players: Will try for 5-7 in the game; plus an observer race. If there are greater than nine entries I will start multiple games.
[added]
The observer race is to be set to 'friend' by all players. It will only occupy its homeworld, which is generally in a central galactic position.
[end add]
====
Victory Conditions

Highest score at 2500, or all resistence collapsing before that point.

Score Formula changes (ie. some tweaks)
o in-game scores a point for every 30 resources; I will score a point for every 50 resources.

o in-game caps points for cap-ships, escorts, and unarmed ships based on the number of planets held. I will score this based on the number of planets held, or 50, whichever is greater.

Alliances, tech trading, etc. allowed, but only *one* race will be declared the winner.

An in-game VC will be used to turn on PPS in 2490; this means the spotlight goes on 10 turns before the game end.
====

Galaxy:
Small, packed, distant starting positions, ACC BBS start,
public scores *off* [see above for special activation]

Note: RWIAB I was medium sparse. We're going for more compact set-up this time. 1/4 of the volume with about the same number of planets.

Passworded race files to following address:
t36zvbp02@sneakemail.com

Please include your password with the file so that race restrictions can be checked. Races that I cannot check will not be accepted.

Please also indicate your experience level. IF there are enough entries for multiple games I'll take experience level and race PRT into account.

If interested, send a race file in. I do not reserve slots in a game based upon a message indicating interest. Too much previous experience with people not following up.

I'm guessing something like a day, judging by what I know of the response rate.

(IE, if you don't respond fast... you'll be too late. Razz)

No specific deadline yet. Still too early to tell what the response is going to be. If the response is heavy than IIa might start late this week. Otherwise I don't expect to submit the game files until Sept 2 or so since Sept 1 is a US holiday.

- Kurt

P.S. - I also foresee the game(s) taking breaks in late November for half a week or so, and probably a full week between Christmas and New Year's.

Well, I'd like to play, but since I'm still involved in the 1st game I don't know if I'll have time. Plus I'm going away for a week starting next weekend. I guess I'll just be waiting for RWIAB 3....

Surprised 10 races in so far... Very Happy

I appreciate the response and have been informed that I should be getting a few more in the next day or so.

At this point I'm pretty sure that there will be RWIAB IIa and IIb games since I can guarantee at least 6 races per galaxy (plus the observer).

If the number of received races hits 18 or more I'll poll the players about whether to go two galaxies with 9, or three with 6.

Hmm, the Weasels are breeding quickly.

Is this going to lead to a champion of champion type event ? Idea

I guess I might have to consider that at some point if the series goes that far. Shocked

15 races in as of last night. I'm going to close the pool tomorrow and start the RWIAB II games from races I've gotten by then.

By doing so I think I can submit the game files to Ron late Thursday or early Friday -- thus I expect the games can start next week sometime (after the Sept 1 US holiday since I'll be out of town).

I'm right on the cusp of adding a IIc game. If I get two or more additional races then I will definitely split it into three games with roughly six races per game.

Championship game, please! Bounce

If you're going to run 3 games, why not? 3 races from each game, you've got your pack.

<submission off a bit late, but still available I hope!>

I think the small-packed should make for more early wars?

Race submissions will be closed as of about 7pm tonight when I get home and check my email. As of last night there were *21* submitted races - which means there will be three games.

I'll toss out an email to everyone when I submit the game files (probably tonight or early tomorrow) and AH sends out an email with the upload PW when the game page is up.

The games will be left on hold until all races have their first turn submitted. That allows me to make sure that the various players can exchange files with AH correctly and have their upload passwords. (I will change passwords upon request after the game starts.)

Added this to the game ad - but wanted to repeat it here.
[Aside: Getting to the point I should write 'The Observer Race's Handbook' Razz ]

The observer race should be set to 'friend' by all players. Said observer will only occupy one planet - its homeworld.

This location is generally centrally located; and is considered neutral territory. Single unarmed ships may enter orbit, and will receive refueling privileges. But these ships are expected to depart without undue delay. Combat in the homeworld is frowned upon.

[Aside:
Goal is to have a central location so that the "unclaimed" territory does not end up solely benefiting one or two races.

The orbit privileges are there first of all since scouts will at a minimum stumble on the location. But I don't wish the location to become a refuge, spying outpost, or refueling stop for attack fleets. The observer also tends *not* to build gates on its stations for roughly the same reason.

The location is basically a necessity in order to get a scouting network up. After that point the neutrality is maintained to reduce the chance of just handing a second HW to whomever happens to be a neighbor.]

The observer also retains the right to maintain a 25ly radius "mine free" zone around the homeworld location.

If games proceed past 2500 the observer race's immunity is waived - though it will often request that it be allowed to continue information gathering in any sort of post-official-game environment.

- Kurt

P.S. - And a nice "hardy har har" to the race that suggested naming themselves 'Observer' or 'Host' just to confuse the issue. Surprised

RWIAB II submissions now closed.

I am *overwhelmed* by the level of interest. There will be three games submitted, each with at least *8* active races.

I expect things to be nasty early since in a small/packed that's about 30 planets per race. Be prepared.

Thanks for the interest and I hope the games go well.

- Kurt

P.S. - those who I contacted about race file issues are still considered entered. I just need to get the revised file by tomorrow.

I occasionally check the log files to determine if there are players playing duplicate races in a game, pretending to be more than one person.

I have a bad feeling about this... Confused
Looks like diplomacy is not going to pull this one out Laughing
I wonder if I'll get killed quick or if I am going to get killed quicker. Evil or Very Mad

Which makes me wonder, what's the minimal time it takes to loose a game? Has anyone got any experience in this regard?

Hi,

I have my turn completed but it won't let me upload. It says my password is incorrect. I have double and triple checked it in the email and made sure I use the right case, to no avail. Help!

note: I am player 6 in the game.
