Beginners with Battleships is now fully subscribed, with race files from all players now in.

All in all I had 13 players wanting to join - not bad for a 4 to 6 player game!

What this does mean is that there are 7 players still looking for a beginner game.

If someone would like to offer their services as host, I am willing to offer whatever help I can to aid you in getting it started.

If you don't want to host, but are interested in playing, post a reply to this message to let everyone know.

Cheers
Staz

I'd love to join a beginner game... I've been playing with the AI, and having no trouble thus far, but I know that's far from the real thing. However, I don't think I'm up to hosting one, at least not quite yet.

That's what I thought - until I couldn't find a game.

Ditto. and I'm sure there are others who are willing to host games for people once a suitable group of players are found. Finding players is the only bit I don't like about hosting...its a pain in the butt. But then maybe my last game concept was just awful Laughing

You host it, and I can get 2 more players. Anyone else?

Well, like I said, I'd love to play. Also, I could post to "The List", more as an update saying that there is a host than as a new game (since staz69uk already posted game details an a link to this thread). That could net us another couple of players, especially if the 7 that staz69uk said were looking to join his game are still around here somewhere. Finally, if that's not enough, I'll post on the rec.games.computer.stars. If we can't get enough players from all of those places, I'm not sure what's wrong.

(Actually, how does one post to the list? Or do we just hope that Mr. Stars finds it and posts it on his own?)

I've always wanted to have a fair run at one of my weaker PRTs. Smile
I think I'll give this one a go..

I could host, but I'd rather not, just cause I don't wanna have to go replacement hunting (which I know I will) if someone drops out.

Whoever ends up being the host, let me know. I have 8 email addresses for people who asked to play in Beginners with Battleships but didn't get a slot.

Finding players for this one (especially if small/medium) should not be a problem.

Just post the announcement on rec.games.computer.stars and it will be picked up and added to The List automatically.

Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that James was a robot. It was more a comment on his efficiency.

I rarely look for replacements in my games. I think its good practice for beginners to get a piece of an inactive player Cool

Huh, I am looking for active "Stars!" sites for about two weeks now. Glad about finding this site... (Found it in "The List")

If anyone wants to host a beginner game and is still looking for players, I would like to join.

I would also host a game, if wanted. Just write me an eMail if you want to join in a standard-ruled beginner game.

If you are willing to host, post an annoucement in the new games annoucements forum, and then I'll send you a bunch of email addresses for people who would want to join.

Greetings,

I would like to join the game too - though it looks like this one is filled up and then some.

I think I've seen interest from 12 or 13 players now - _not_ including those who made it into Beginners with Battleships.

So either 1 large beginner game, or two more small ones look possible.

Let's do a large. On a large or huge map. (last time I played with 16 on a medium it was super cramped, (150ly boarder, 300ly to your neighbor!) Plus density was low.. So EVERY rock was gobbled up, sometime's violently, most unfortunate. Smile

I suspect a large part of the popularity of BwB was the smaller universe. I know I would never play in a huge, and I have double and triple thoughts about large.

One large game in a large universe sounds good to me.

How long would it take to play a large universe game? I once played a medium universe game with 12 people, and it took almost 6 months before we had a winner.
