SS OBRM Max Tech

I am in a game currently, max tech nubian stage with normal mineral crunch in process. I have just gained the Alien Miner, and a quick calculation has just shown me that if I scrapped my 1300 OBRM Miners I could 'rebuild' them into just over 2000 Mini Alien Miners. If I could transfer these to an abandoned HW (I have 2 inhabited but would of course remove all colonists) and benifit from the minimum 30 concentration they would produce around 12000 kT of each mineral a year.

(2000*20)*0.3=12000 Confused

Currently my miners produce a little over 3000kT (of all minerals), but this is lowering slowly year on year due to the lowering min-concentration.

Basically can someone tell me if this is possible and if it is sensible?

The way I see it I would get the miners 'free' and they would comfortably pay for themselves quickly. In addition i could spend the first few years of minerals into building more and more miners (I could produce around 1000/year comfortably) until I would be swimming in more minerals than I could use.
