As as wondering, when someone use a picpoket scanner or a Baron scanner to steal minerals, is the player that was robbed informed about it? Would he know who stole his minerals? Wouldn't the two ships enter battle or something?

 Do you have ships in orbit too, of course they engage battle. I don't think you're informed of who did it, but I can't recall if you are(informed) or not. Cool Pick pockets can only steal from ships whereas the robber baron can steal from planets. If the stealing ship is unarmed or has retreating orders and meets no resistance it should not engage in battle.

 The only way to know is to notice:
1) Your minerals on surface has decreased
2) Your production is screwed up due to lack of minerals.
3) You might also be able to see the thief after he steals and notice that his ship mass is a lot higher than when you first noticed him.

Might have missed another one, but bottom line is you have to be on the look out for it.

General rule I have, no RB ship is allowed on my planets Razz

Can't you see the SS ship the year he robbed you?
After all, he'll have a ship where your ship/planet is.

 Yes, you would see the ship on your world.
But he might not have stolen minerals until the next turn, ie waypoint 0 upload and run in same year.
